Mayor of London Meets With Triple H and Nick Khan About Hosting Future WrestleMania

As a hardcore wrestling fan with years of experience attending live events, I can’t help but get excited about the potential for WWE’s first international WrestleMania in London. Last summer’s Money in the Bank event was a massive success and John Cena’s tease of a potential WrestleMania in London left us all on the edge of our seats.

Last summer, WWE held a highly profitable “Money in the Bank” Premium Live Event in London, attracting over 18,000 spectators. Surprisingly, John Cena made an appearance and hinted at the possibility of London hosting the first international “WrestleMania.” This intriguing prospect became more plausible as London Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed his strong desire to bring “WrestleMania” to the city back in April. Recently, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and President Nick Khan had discussions with Khan about the potential future of WWE events in London.

Sadiq expressed his pleasure of meeting WWE Hall of Famer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and WWE President Nick Khan in London, expressing the intent to make our city the first international destination for WrestleMania. With London’s history of hosting significant global sporting events, Sadiq is committed to solidifying our city as the uncontested sports capital of the world. The collaboration with WWE promises an exciting opportunity, and the productive discussion will continue in pursuit of bringing this ambition to life for the betterment of everyone in London.

Khan commented, “Sadiq Khan and his group are putting in considerable effort to establish London as a premier destination for sports and entertainment in Europe. I’m excited to learn more about his plans for how WWE can contribute to this endeavor. The economic impact of a WrestleMania event is substantial, with over $1.25 billion generated for host cities and an impressive attendance of 145,000 fans from around the world in Philadelphia this year. Further discussions are required, but we are aligned with Mayor Khan’s goal of potentially bringing a memorable WWE live event to London.”

Levesque highlighted the lengthy relationship between WWE and London, which goes back to the late 1980s when they first started holding events in the city. He also acknowledged the success of various international WWE productions that took place this year, emphasizing the strong fan interest. “WWE’s connection with London spans over several decades, and meeting with Sadiq Khan to explore possibilities for our future collaboration has been rewarding. This year, we’ve seen record-breaking WWE events in countries like Australia, France, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. The fans’ enthusiasm is evident, and the eagerness of London’s Mayor and his team is obvious.”

Over the last two years, AEW has held its major event, AEW All In, at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London. The turnout was astounding with over 80,000 people in attendance last year, breaking records for any company, not just for wrestling giants like AEW as the second largest in the world. It’s only natural that competitors like WWE consider tapping into this untapped market overseas where western wrestling promotions have limited presence.
