As a long-time fan of Dexter, I can hardly contain my excitement as Michael C. Hall prepares to reprise his iconic role not once but twice! Having grown up watching Hall masterfully portray America’s favorite serial killer, I can only imagine the depth and complexity he will bring to both Dexter: Original Sin and Dexter: Resurrection.
Mikey C. Hall is coming back to Dexter with a surprise: not just one, but two new installments!
At San Diego Comic-Con, Hall, known for his role as “America’s beloved serial killer” in the original series for eight seasons, revealed that he will reprise his character in not one, but two upcoming projects. The first is the prequely named “Dexter: Original Sin,” and the second is a brand new show.
Resurrection, the new show, will continue the story of Dexter in the current day, picking up where Dexter: New Blood left off, which was broadcasted from 2021 to 2022.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Hall expressed: “It’s quite a trip down memory lane. My first visit to Comic-Con took place in this very same room, I believe around 75 years ago. I can hardly believe I’m still here to attend again.”
“I’m eagerly anticipating the release of this show. In some ways, I have an idea of what to expect, having invested a lot of time in getting to know this character. The thought of seeing those gaps filled in with vibrant detail is truly exciting.”
Before getting ready to use cleavers, chainsaws, and claw hammers again, the 53-year-old will tell stories for a new ’90s-era prequel series called “Original Sin.” This series is set to premiere in December.
The show will depict Dexter’s journey, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, as he evolves from a student into a vengeful serial killer.
When the irresistible desire to spill blood takes over, Dexter finds it necessary to find healthy outlets for his darker side instead.
Under the tutelage of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), the man devises a method to track down and eliminate individuals considered undesirable by society, avoiding detection from law enforcement.
The production includes Sarah Michelle Gellar and James Martinez among its cast members. Clyde Phillips oversees the show’s creative direction as its executive producer.
Regarding Original Sin, Phillips expressed: “You may think you know the drill, but get ready for an upgrade. Witnessing these figures in their youthful forms is a treat, and the narrative, trust me, will keep you guessing with its fresh twists and jaw-dropping moments.”
Following the show’s premiere in December, we will start producing Resurrection in January, aiming for a summer 2025 release.
Both series will debut on Paramount Plus.
