Now It’s Battlefield 6’s Turn to Face Accusations of Generative AI Usage

The newest installment in the popular Battlefield series, Battlefield 6 from EA, is drawing criticism from players who dislike the use of artificial intelligence in games.

Generative AI tools have become increasingly common in video games this year, but players have consistently voiced concerns and criticism about their use in the development process, with each instance drawing similar disapproval.

So, I’ve been hanging out on the Battlefield 6 subreddit, and people are buzzing about something really interesting. It looks like the developers might be using AI to help create some of the art for the game – we’ve found some stuff that suggests they are, and it’s got everyone talking!

A sticker from the recently released Windchill design pack clearly shows signs of being created with artificial intelligence.

The design features a snowflake with a soldier holding an M4A1 rifle, but the rifle is depicted with two barrels – an inaccurate detail. Many fans believe the image was created using artificial intelligence.

This sticker is just the tip of the iceberg, according to some users who’ve noticed other potentially AI-generated images. If one was created with AI, it’s probable that others exist as well.

Some people won’t be bothered by this at all, while others will find it quite concerning.

I was really disappointed to see Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 using AI-generated art – it just didn’t feel right, and a lot of fans agreed with me. It reminded me of a similar thing that happened with the last game, and people weren’t happy about that either.

EA and the Battlefield 6 teams have yet to comment on it.

We’d love to hear your opinion! Does creating art with AI, even in small ways like this, cause any problems? And do you think this is just the beginning of a larger trend? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
