Nicola Peltz Beckham Sues Groomer Over Dog's Death

As a devoted fan and animal lover, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that happened to Nicola Peltz Beckham‘s beloved chihuahua, Nala. Having spent most of my life dedicated to saving dogs myself, I understand the deep bond between humans and their pets, making this situation even more heart-wrenching.

It has been reported that Nicola Peltz Beckham is suing a pet groomer due to the unfortunate passing of her dog, Nala the Chihuahua.

Two weeks following Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s spouse (formerly of the “Bates Motel”) announcing their pet’s passing at eight years old, a lawsuit was filed by her against Houndspa LLC, its owner Deborah Gittleman, and groomer Jony Ceballos. The reason for this legal action is her belief that they are responsible for the dog’s death in June.

According to a report filed on July 30, TopMob News has learned that there are allegations against Ceballos. It is claimed, based on information received, that while caring for Nala, Ceballos not only neglected her proper care but also physically harmed and/or intentionally abused the dog in a cruel manner, showing complete disregard for her safety, health, and overall well-being.

TopMob News has reached out to HoundSpa, Gittleman and Ceballos for comment and has not heard back.

As a devoted follower, I’ve been made aware, through legal proceedings, that HoundSpa was enlisted to deliver mobile grooming services for five of my beloved dogs residing at my Westchester County home. Among them is Nala, the tiny 2-pound chihuahua who was scheduled to receive a bath, drying, nail trimming, and dental as well as ear cleaning.

According to the report, Nala ventured into the grooming vehicle, appearing cheerful and in good health. However, after roughly 20 to 25 minutes, she was brought back to the actress’ assistant in a state of injury and extreme discomfort. She was panting heavily, wheezing, and her chest was visibly pulsating.

As a devoted follower, I hastily took my cherished pet Nala to the vet, a quick 15-minute drive away, when Nicola noticed that something was amiss. Upon examination, they discovered that Nala’s tongue had turned blue, she had accumulated fluid in her lungs, and she had sustained neurological damage. The lawsuit elaborates further, stating that Nala was placed on oxygen, but unfortunately, she breathed her last just two hours after being transported in the groomer’s van, in front of the actress.

“Nicola expressed her deep sorrow and disbelief in a statement to TopMob News, stating that her beloved baby Nala died unexpectedly last month during what should have been a regular grooming appointment. She shared this experience on Instagram with the intention of raising awareness, only to discover countless other stories from people who had also suffered similar losses.”

She went on to say, “It’s crucial that we strive for improvement and revise our laws to safeguard pets and the compassionate guardians who cherish them. Pets are an integral part of our family. For most of my life, I’ve been devoted to rescuing dogs, and it’s inconceivable for me to stand by while this appalling act causes further distress to families. I am committed to advocating for changes and laws that will prevent others from enduring the same devastation.”

The legal claim asserts that Ceballos was continually asked about his actions towards Nala, the sequence of services he provided, and details about what occurred with her. However, his account of the events and his actions seemed inconsistent each time it was told.

The suit also states that Nicola found out Ceballos was her dogs’ groomer only after Nala’s death.

“Eager for explanations, Nicola reached out to Gittleman right away. He told Nicola that it was Ceballos who had groomed Nala on June 15th, a fact that left Nicola stunned. It seemed she hadn’t realized that Ceballos was still working at HoundSpa as a groomer, despite accusations of mistreatment during his mobile grooming services.”

29-year-old Nicola claims that there have been several past accusations concerning Ceballo’s handling of dogs. One such instance, as shared by one of her brothers and his partner in 2022, has been mentioned. However, it remains unclear whether they decided to take the matter to court.

The actress states that it was incorrect for Gittleman not to stop Ceballos from further pet grooming inside a van, especially without surveillance cameras, following allegations of animal cruelty.

As a long-time pet owner and animal lover with extensive experience working in the pet care industry, I strongly believe that the allegations against Gittleman in this filing are deeply concerning. By keeping him as an employee and failing to monitor his conduct, Gittleman knowingly or recklessly put every dog that was groomed by HoundSpa at risk of being harmed. This kind of negligence is unacceptable and could have devastating consequences for the beloved pets in our care. As someone who has dedicated my life to ensuring the well-being and happiness of animals, I urge everyone involved to take this situation seriously and prioritize the safety of all dogs that come into contact with HoundSpa.

In her legal claim, the actress asserts that two additional dogs, which were also groomed by Ceballos on the same day, subsequently displayed signs of distress. One of these dogs has even developed a fear of being left unattended in a room.

Nicola is pursuing compensation due to claims of conversion and trespass to personal property, which is equivalent to intentionally and unlawfully harming another person’s possessions, for “cruelly treating Nala and causing her death,” as well as emotional distress infliction. The court filing indicates that any funds obtained from this lawsuit will be contributed to a dog rescue charity.

As a pet owner myself, I can only imagine the profound grief and disbelief Nicola must be feeling after losing her precious baby Nala following what should have been a routine grooming session. Losing a beloved pet is one of the most devastating experiences a pet owner can face, and my heart goes out to Nicola during this difficult time.
