As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of wrestling through numerous eras, I can say that this match between Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland at All In is shaping up to be one for the ages. The stakes are high, with Danielson putting his career on the line against Strickland’s AEW World Championship title.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve been following Bryan Danielson closely this year, knowing it’s his final run as a full-time wrestler. Despite some setbacks due to injuries, he’s been giving it his all to claim the AEW World Championship. That epic title will not come easy, though; he’ll have to beat one of AEW’s top stars, current World Champion Swerve Strickland.
Presence and Promises
Danielson spoke about two topics: presence and commitments. He shared his good fortune in his career, despite being forced into retirement and losing it all initially. However, since he returned, he has relished every moment. Specifically, he’s been grateful for the chance to reminisce about the old days. The past three years in AEW have been extraordinary, representing the most enjoyable phase of his career. As the crowd chanted “Thank you Bryan,” Danielson expressed gratitude and acknowledged that there are some instances he can’t fully comprehend, but at least for that moment, he was able to appreciate it.
Reflecting back on my life as a professional wrestler, promises have always been a significant part of my journey. When my daughter was seven, I made a promise to her that I would stop wrestling full-time, a commitment I intend to keep. Moreover, I pledged to my family that my contract with AEW would be the final one in my career, and tomorrow marks the end of that agreement.
When I joined AEW, I made two promises. I vowed to deliver hard-hitting moves and secure the AEW Championship. Over the past three years, I’ve certainly dished out a fair share of punishing blows, but I haven’t yet claimed the AEW World Championship. This might be my final opportunity. It won’t just likely be my last shot; it will definitely be my last shot. The event is AEW’s biggest of the year, taking place at Wembley Stadium for All In. Despite medical advice advising against wrestling, I pledge to be there. I promise to give you my all – more than 100% if such a thing were possible. I guarantee that at All In, with my body, my mind, and my spirit, I will leave everything on the line.
The Champ Enters the Ring
Strickland stepped forward next, expressing his admiration for Danielson igniting a wave of wrestlers to pursue their ambitions, with himself among them. He added that he would typically cheer him on, but this moment belonged to Swerve Strickland. “When I joined AEW, I declared I’d win the AEW World Championship, and I did,” Strickland stated. “You’re an outstanding wrestler of your generation, but I’m unique. You entered AEW, claiming you’d win the Title and knock everyone out. It seems you struggled when they started fighting back.”
Strickland made it clear to Bryan: This isn’t a recognition for achievements or service after 24 years. It’s a belt that signifies undoubtedly being the best in the world, and I, too, am the best. Swerve mentioned he competed at All In while Bryan was in such poor condition he couldn’t even make it to London for the event.
“Maybe your body just can’t handle the pressures of being a Champion. I know you make a lot of promises and want to be in the moment, so let’s be in the moment. I promise you that I am the most dangerous man in AEW. I’m also gonna promise you this, that you will not be walking out of All In as Champion. Hell after I’m done with you you may never walk again,” Strickland said. “Swerve, I have one more promise,” Danielson said. “I promise if I don’t win the AEW World Championship, I will never wrestle again. Your title, versus my career, at All In. Swerve, what do you say?” They shook on it, and made it official. “That’s very noble of you Bryan, but don’t keep that promise to me, keep it with your family,” Strickland said.
