Hunter Schafer is sharing why a past flame burned out.
Even now, a year on from Dominic Fike’s heartbreaking split with me in April 2023, I can still feel the sting of his betrayal. It was his unfaithfulness during our time together that ultimately drove us apart and left me with a broken heart.
“Hunter shared during the August 7th episode of Call Her Daddy that one reason their relationship ended was due to being betrayed for the first time. This experience significantly altered him as an individual.”
Following discovery of her ex-partner’s infidelity, a 25-year-old woman (who mentioned she had never dated a cis, straight man before, namely Dominic, 28) initially took the blame for their relationship issues.
In her role as a transgender woman, who was dating someone new to this demographic, she underscored the challenges. “Given my socialization as a trans woman,” she explained, “the complexities of life have often felt overwhelming at times, leading me to question if this is all there is and if I could possibly endure it.”
But looking back at the situation, Hunter was able to realize it had nothing to do with her.
The “Kinds of Kindness” actor emphasized that it’s highly relevant to the individual involved when discussing infidelity. He explained, “Regardless of their emotional turmoil or circumstances they’re facing.”
The “3 Nights” singer’s long-term partner, whom she referred to as her first committed relationship, Hunter, expressed suspicion that Dominic may have been untrue to their relationship before they parted ways.
She confirmed, “I’ve always been aware, and I must admit, I checked Dominic’s phone to be sure. It’s something I’m not particularly pleased about.”
But despite the alleged cheating, Hunter looks back at her past with Dominic fondly.
Reflecting on the situation, I must admit it was one of the more amicable separations I’ve experienced. We both acknowledged that our relationship wasn’t thriving and we needed to part ways. It wasn’t easy; he was someone truly extraordinary whom I held dear. The pain of letting go was profound, yet we both understood that our separate paths were the healthier choice for us.
Reflecting on the past, I, a fan beyond measure, can’t help but feel a swell of pride when I think about Dom being my idol’s first public partner. It’s as if fate itself conspired to bring them together. And in her own words, “He saw me for who I truly am, and that was nothing short of extraordinary.”
