As a long-time admirer of timeless cinematic brilliance, I find myself utterly thrilled by the latest addition to the Yellowstone universe – The Madison. The casting of none other than the iconic Michelle Pfeiffer is a testament to Taylor Sheridan’s vision and Paramount Global’s knack for recognizing talent.
For a while, it’s been clear that the Yellowstone universe has been growing. However, we haven’t known much about how or who’s in charge. But now, we finally have some answers.
Initially, there was news about a contemporary sequel to Yellowstone being developed. Now, it’s clear that this series will be called The Madison, which was previously referred to as “2024.” In a similar fashion, the prequel series are titled 1944 and 1923.
As a lifelong fan of the franchise, I am absolutely thrilled to learn that The Madison is set to be the next series released and even more so with the news that Hollywood legend Michelle Pfeiffer will be taking on the lead role. Having grown up watching her captivating performances in films like “Scarface” and “Dangerous Minds,” I have always admired her acting prowess, and this casting decision is truly a dream come true for me as a fan. The thought of seeing Michelle Pfeiffer bring the character of The Madison to life is beyond exciting, and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the role in terms of depth and nuance. This news has added even more anticipation to the release of this upcoming series, and I have no doubt that it will be a hit with audiences everywhere.
Alongside Taylor Sheridan, Pfeiffer will also take on the role of executive producer for the series. With a reputation like hers, an introduction isn’t really necessary. She is widely recognized for her performances in films such as Scarface, Dangerous Liaisons, and Frankie & Johnny, among others.
Throughout her professional journey, this three-time Academy Award nominee has occasionally paused her acting pursuits, yet she’s currently gracing our screens as Janet van Dyne within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and portraying Betty Ford in ‘The First Lady’.

It’s been speculated for a while now that Pfeiffer, alongside Suits actor Patrick J. Adams and Kurt Russell, might join The Madison project. However, neither of their participations has been officially verified yet.
The tagline for this series reveals that “The Madison” is an emotional exploration of loss and relationships, centered around a New York City family living in the Madison River valley of Montana’s heartland.
The series will delve into the modern-day Dutton family history, introducing fresh characters and settings. However, it remains unclear if any familiar characters might reappear.
It’s possible we won’t see Kevin Costner again in the Yellowstone universe, as he has moved on to focus entirely on Horizon: An American Saga following his departure announcement in 2023.
In June, fans received a clear update regarding Costner’s participation in upcoming Yellowstone episodes when the actor shared on his Instagram account: “I wanted to reach out and let you know that after this long period of working on Horizon and dealing with all the related tasks,” he started, “I’ve been contemplating about Yellowstone – the cherished series I hold dear, one I believe you all adore as well.”
“I just realised that I’m not going to be able to continue [with] season 5B or into the future.”
Costner expressed: “It had a profound impact on me. I adored it, and I believe you did too. I simply wanted to inform you that I won’t be back. I cherish the bond we’ve built and I’ll catch you at the cinema.”
