Title Character: Alien: Romulus

The sci-fi movie “Alien: Romulus” is created by Ridley Scott, who directed the initial “Alien” film and also produced and directed the films “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant” from the series. Additionally, Michael Pruss (known for “Boston Strangler”) and Walter Hill (associated with the original “Alien”) are involved in its production. Fede ?lvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (familiar with “Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (recognized from “Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (acclaimed for “Unstoppable”) serve as executive producers for this project.

What is Alien: Romulus About?

As a gamer, I’ll be diving into the world of Romulus, where I’ll encounter a band of brave space settlers squaring off against the scariest life form the universe has to offer. My journey is inspired by a cut scene from James Cameron’s Aliens that featured young colonists, which served as the foundation for Romulus’ tale.

He initially chose a unique perspective for his work, focusing on characters who aren’t experts or scientists, and certainly not adults. This approach intrigued him as it allows ordinary people, similar to the audience, to take center stage in the story. These characters are relatively unfamiliar with the complexities of space travel, making them more relatable to viewers. When the characters are professionals, they often possess knowledge beyond what we do, but when they’re young adults, they’re still learning how to manage the spacecraft’s airlock systems.

He went on to say, “As children, they likely worked together aboard the same vessel, which is how they became acquainted. Over time, they’ve formed a deep bond because they are essentially each other’s only family. They behave more like surrogate siblings, and some of them even shared the same home. Many of the film’s major themes revolve around siblinghood and its significance, and these personal connections also intertwine with the larger Romulus-Weyland-Yutani storyline.”

Alien: Romulus hits theaters on August 16th.
