Total War: Medieval 3 is finally happening, entering early pre-production — and thanks to an engine upgrade, it might launch on Xbox consoles

Creative Assembly revealed a brand new Total War game during their showcase on Thursday: Total War: Medieval 3. The Total War series is known for its historical settings, including medieval Europe, feudal Japan (Shogun), and ancient China (Three Kingdoms). While the series also successfully branched into fantasy with Total War: Warhammer, Medieval 3 is the first time a non-Warhammer sub-series has gotten a third installment. In a press release, Lee explained that developing Neath pushed the team outside their usual creative space, both in terms of genre and a darker visual style. They’re introducing innovative features like ‘engagement locking’ and the ‘attack resolve system’ and hope to significantly impact the genre. As Lee enthusiastically put it, “PRAISE NEATH!”
