New "Disney Starlight" Parade Coming to Magic Kingdom Featuring Encanto, Peter Pan, Frozen, and More

As a lifelong Disney enthusiast who’s been to the parks more times than I can count, tonight’s Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase panel was nothing short of magical! The announcement of an all-new parade titled Disney Starlight has me absolutely thrilled. Growing up with Disney classics like Peter Pan and Frozen, it’s heartwarming to see these cherished franchises coming together in such a spectacular way.

During today’s D23 event, while movies and TV shows from Disney garnered much attention earlier in the day, it was the parks that would take center stage during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase panel (via DisneyParksBlog). Throughout the panel, there were numerous surprises, but one of the biggest announcements was the unveiling of a brand-new parade called Disney Starlight. This exciting new parade is set to debut at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park next summer and will showcase some of Disney’s most beloved franchises such as Encanto, Frozen, Peter Pan, and others.

Welcome to the Parade

At the panel, ex-Disney Live Entertainment Cast Members Rachel Potter and Eden Espinosa unveiled Disney Starlight on stage. This new production builds upon the legacy initiated by Main Street Electrical Parade, introducing advanced technology and fresh narratives. Fans were given a sneak peek into some of these stories that will be brought to life in the park through concept art, as illustrated above.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my take on a scene from Encanto: Me, standing amidst this vibrant tableau, with the charming characters of Mirabel, Isabela, and Bruno right before my eyes! The enchanting village nestles in the distance, while parts of the Casita peek from the stage where these charismatic individuals grace us. At the heart of it all, a magical candle glows, bestowing the family with their extraordinary powers.

In the second illustration, the Blue Fairy is seen animating everything, and behind her, Peter Pan and Wendy are depicted flying in mid-air. Accompanying them is Elsa, who brandishes her magic, causing snowflakes to fall about her. It’s quite a spectacle, and though it currently exists only as conceptual artwork, expect Disney to strive to materialize this image when the parade sets sail next year.

Around the World

Disney has announced that their Reach for the Stars nighttime show will make its debut at Tokyo Disneyland on September 20th, while Disneyland Paris will follow suit in January of next year with a unique nighttime spectacular. This showcase will incorporate songs from both Disney and Pixar, with Sleeping Beauty Castle serving as a backdrop for the story projection as it moves along Main Street.

In simpler terms, Josh D’Amaro, who heads Disney Experiences at The Walt Disney Company, stated that the Imagineers at Disney dream up, create, design, and construct stories into real locations. Currently, there are Imagineers working on various projects all over the world because everything they’re about to reveal tonight is currently being developed. Plans have been made, construction work has started, and it’s important to understand that they are actively working on everything you will hear this evening.
