Nintendo Switch Finally Getting One of 2022's Best Games

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of Stray on Nintendo Switch is like a long-awaited reunion with an old friend. Having missed out on this critically acclaimed game when it first launched in 2022, I’m thrilled to finally get my paws on it later this year.

In 2022, some fantastic video games were launched on Nintendo Switch, such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Splatoon 3, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Yet, individuals who solely rely on this platform may have missed out on at least one highly-rated game from that year – Stray. During June’s Nintendo Direct event, it was disclosed that Stray would eventually arrive on Switch, but a release date wasn’t provided. Now, Annapurna Interactive has announced the game’s release date: November 19th! Unfortunately, as of now, there is no eShop page available for pre-ordering, so those eager to secure their copy will have to be patient for a short while longer.

The Switch release date for Stray was revealed in a new trailer, which can be found below.

It’s yet to be determined how the Nintendo Switch edition of Stray will measure up against its counterparts on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, especially in terms of performance. However, reviews for those versions were quite positive. If you watched the trailer, you might have caught a glimpse of ComicBook’s review for Stray along with ratings from other sources. In 2022, Cade Onder gave the PS5 version a score of 4.5 out of 5. Onder was highly impressed by Stray, describing it as a game that openly expresses its emotions and skillfully integrates its themes into every player’s actions.

2024’s remaining months look promising for Nintendo Switch users, as they’ll see several notable releases. For instance, “Stray” is set to launch on November 19th, coinciding with “Mario & Luigi: Brothership” (November 7th) and “Dragon Quest III HD-2D” (November 14th). These games should captivate Switch owners, so it’s hoped that “Stray” won’t slip under the radar amidst these other releases. After a long wait, it would be disappointing if “Stray” didn’t make an impact on Nintendo’s platform, but here’s hoping the wait was worth it for everyone.

As the launch of Stray approaches within a couple of months, expect to receive additional information such as its pricing, whether it will be available in a physical edition, and if there might be any incentives for pre-ordering soon.
