Alien: Earth Creator Says Series Will Give Fans "Something Special"

As a seasoned gamer and long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I must say it feels like Christmas came early this year! The release of Alien: Romulus has been nothing short of exhilarating, and the anticipation for Noah Hawley’s upcoming series, Alien: Earth, is palpable. Having grown up with Ripley and her battles against the Xenomorph, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with excitement for this new chapter in the Alien saga.

Right now, it’s an exciting period for fans of the Alien franchise. The movie Alien: Romulus is currently leading the box office over the weekend and is projected to gross around $100 million worldwide by the end of its first weekend. This film has been well-received by both critics and audiences, with a 81% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 86% audience score. But that’s not all! Fans of Aliens also have the upcoming Alien: Earth series to look forward to. Created by Noah Hawley, who is famous for creating TV adaptations of Fargo and Legion, this new series will air on FX. A teaser for Alien: Earth has been shown before screenings of Alien: Romulus this weekend, and Hawley recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the show, hinting that it will offer something unique and special to fans.

Hawley shared, “We have completed filming,” he stated about the series. “Currently, I am in the editing phase. There’s undeniably a significant visual effects aspect that requires time. However, I couldn’t be more pleased with the show we produced. For those seeking a television series set in the world of Alien, I believe they will find something unique and special.”

He confidently replied that it’s highly likely the show will continue past its first season, when asked about potential future seasons.

When Does Alien: Earth Take Place?

Previously, Noah Hawley, the creator of the series, hinted that Alien: Earth would unfold on Earth in a future setting, and it has been confirmed by LFX CEO John Landgraf that this story is set approximately 70 years from now. This timeline is significant because it happens before Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley confronted the Xenomorph in the initial Alien movie.

In his words, this is the initial installment within the Alien series that unfolds on Earth. The narrative occurs approximately 70 years from now, at the tail end of our current century. Landgraf expressed his hope that fans will find it a loyal adaptation of their beloved franchise, while also experiencing a fresh and innovative reimagining.

“He went on to say how intriguing it would be to establish a scenario on Earth. Considering the future of our world, we need to think about aspects like environment, governance, technology, and design a vision for the planet’s future… Noah intends to approach this uniquely and creatively.”

I’m eagerly anticipating more news on “Alien: Earth.” Right now, you can catch “Alien: Romulus” on screens nationwide!
