New Assassin's Creed Shadows Trailer Shows Off Protagonists Differing Playstyles

As a seasoned Assassin’s Creed fan with over a decade of gaming experience under my belt, I’m thrilled about the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows! The journey through feudal Japan has been long-awaited, and Ubisoft’s commitment to delivering two distinct protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, is a testament to their understanding of what fans want.

Title launching in November: “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows”

The video showcases several Ubisoft team members discussing how they’re designing distinct playstyles for two characters. One of these characters, Naoe, is being crafted to deliver a quintessential Assassin’s Creed experience. This implies she will serve as the stealthy lead character. She is described as swift, productive, and agile, with the team hailing her as “the greatest assassin ever” due to her impressive parkour moves, which they claim are the coolest and most spectacular they could envision. The video emphasizes Naoe taking a prone position to sneak up on adversaries before executing a silent assassination. Ubisoft is also integrating innovative lighting technology, which they will use to enhance the shinobi fantasy during nighttime scenes. To stay concealed while navigating your enemies, you’ll need to pay close attention to the direction of light sources.

In combat and exploration, Yasuke prefers direct confrontations, often engaging in sword-on-sword battles. If he chooses to fight, you’ll likely be aware of it beforehand. Historically, this samurai is a reliable source of strength on the battlefield. The video depicts him using his substantial size to break through locked doors and haul heavy barrels. However, his parkour skills may not appear as agile compared to Naoe. For instance, the trailer shows him performing the signature Assassin’s Creed dive into hay, but his landing is noticeably rougher than fans are accustomed to, requiring a moment for him to gather himself after impact with the ground.

On November 15th, I’ll dive headfirst into “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” on my PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. In this new adventure, I’ll have the liberty to choose between two characters for missions, shaping my gaming experience based on my preferred playstyle. To make things even more exciting, I can hone my skills with an array of weapons that both characters possess, allowing me to tailor my combat narrative uniquely in “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”.
