Queen Camilla’s work with domestic violence victims to be explored in documentary

As a humble observer of history and a fervent admirer of Her Majesty Queen Camilla, I find myself deeply moved by the forthcoming documentary “Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors.” The sheer magnitude of her commitment to addressing such a pressing issue as domestic abuse is truly inspiring.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned about an upcoming documentary set to air later this year, titled provisionally as “Her Majesty The Queen: A Glimpse Beyond the Curtains.” It promises to offer unique insights into the life of our esteemed monarch.

In a joint effort with Love Monday, we are set to release a fresh 90-minute production. This film features Queen Camilla engaging with individuals who have survived domestic abuse as well as advocates striving to increase knowledge and empathy about this pressing matter.

For more than ten years, the Queen has been actively advocating against domestic and sexual violence. The upcoming film will chronicle her journey throughout a year, during which she participates in official events and previously unseen private discussions with survivors and pioneers working towards advancements in this area.

In a statement issued from Buckingham Palace earlier this year, Her Majesty The Queen expressed that these courageous individuals she spoke with desire more than anything to be heard and trusted, so as to stop similar events from occurring in the future.

Let’s seize this valuable chance to voice our concerns and spark change, ensuring these horrific acts never recur again. With resilience and bravery, we shall overcome.

Simultaneously, Sue Murphy, Director of Factual Entertainment at ITV expressed: “We’re honored to produce this documentary alongside Her Majesty the Queen on such a significant topic. Our aim is that the movie will spark understanding and encourage transformation within our community.”

In this newly released documentary, marking her first since her coronation a year ago, the queen will showcase conversations with survivors of domestic abuse, family members mourning their deceased loved ones, and individuals dedicated to stopping such violence.

She’ll additionally participate in discussions with teenagers, celebrate International Women’s Day at Buckingham Palace, and interact with survivors who, by chance of finding refuge, may have otherwise been victims of fatal violence. The movie will also delve into the reasons behind perpetrators’ abuse and propose ways to break the cycle of abuse.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve had the distinct honor of being part of the team bringing this movie to life, under the guidance of Angela Byrne and Kerene Barefield. Kerene, in particular, has shared an incredible opportunity with us – the chance to produce a film that offers a unique glimpse into Her Majesty The Queen’s tireless efforts in combating domestic abuse. It’s been a profound experience witnessing her work up close.

Our goal was not just to shed light on the destruction wrought by domestic abuse within the UK, but also to amplify the voices of those affected and help them regain their power. Just like The Queen, many others are determined to eradicate this affliction, and we’ve been privileged to collaborate with charities and organizations who tirelessly work on the frontlines to aid survivors, restore victims, and advocate for reform.

“We’re deeply moved that our courageous survivors have chosen to share their experiences on camera. We believe that by incorporating these stories into this film, we can help others recognize the signs of abuse in 2024. Recognizing it is crucial because together, we can combat domestic abuse and make a positive impact.”

As a longtime admirer of British royalty, I am thrilled to share that this year, we’ll have a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the life of Her Majesty The Queen through the documentary “Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors (w/t).” Having spent countless hours watching her reign unfold on television, I can hardly contain my excitement to witness an intimate portrayal of her personal and official life. This captivating series will be aired on ITV1, ITVX, STV, and STV Player, offering viewers like myself the chance to gain new insights into the life of one of the most revered figures in modern history. I can’t wait to tune in!
