As a sci-fi fan, I’ve seen a lot of cool twists hidden in not-so-great movies. Take The Butterfly Effect, for instance – it really struggled to figure out what it wanted to be, ending up with four totally different versions of the main character’s life. But the director’s cut is insane – it has the character go back in time and… well, kill himself before he’s even born! It’s a twist that, honestly, most movies haven’t even attempted. There was a film released a decade later that didn’t quite reach that level of shock, but I think it still deserves more recognition; it’s got a fantastic story and a really clever twist that people seem to overlook.

The 2018 horror film Cam was written by Isa Mazzei, a former cam girl herself. Mazzei initially planned to make a documentary about the lives of cam girls, but she realized a horror movie would be a more effective way to convey the experience. She explained to Vice that people often didn’t understand camming, even after she tried to explain it. Cam centers on Alice, a camgirl who discovers someone has created a doppelganger account and is performing disturbing acts in her place. The film is a visually striking blend of horror, thriller, and mystery, creating a gritty yet beautiful take on techno-horror.

The new movie, Fuuto PI: The Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull, is now available on Crunchyroll! Spotted on X by @WTK, this film was originally released in Japan last year but wasn’t widely available internationally until now. Fans can finally watch it with English subtitles. It offers a fresh perspective on the Kamen Rider universe and is definitely worth a watch for Crunchyroll subscribers.
