Transformers: Daniel Warren Johnson Reveals When His Image Comics Run Will End

As a long-time fan of Transformers and comic books, I can confidently say that Daniel Warren Johnson has been a breath of fresh air for the Energon Universe. His 24-issue run on the series is not only exciting but also a testament to his commitment to the craft.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve been thrilled to witness Daniel Warren Johnson’s significant contribution to the thriving Skybound Energon Universe, redefining Transformers tales in a manner that truly strikes a chord with fans. Fortunately, Johnson isn’t planning an exit anytime soon, but as we all know, every good thing must eventually come to an end.

24 on the Horizon

Reddit users Strange-Shock5466 and Danielle_Roe expressed their fondness for the Transformers series in their comments, leading to a query about how many issues Johnson would continue to write. Johnson responded warmly, “I’m really enjoying writing it at the moment, and Jorge and Mike are doing an amazing job on the art. I’ll be working on this series for 24 issues, thank you both!”

Reddit user ThatDarnCabbage expressed their admiration for the series, labeling it as one of the top comics, and pondered if more issues could be produced, perhaps up to 50 or even 100. Johnson welcomed the positive feedback but explained why such an extension isn’t feasible.

In simpler terms, Johnson expressed, “Truthfully, I’m enjoying myself immensely and would love to continue. However, when it comes to creating, be it writing or drawing, I always give it my all – 110%. This intensity has its toll on me, and I can only sustain it for a limited time. Therefore, my decision to step down at age 24 is primarily driven by concerns for my mental health and family, rather than any feelings about the amazing Cybertronians. Thank you for your understanding and support!”

The Response from Fans

During a conversation with ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con, Johnson expressed his excitement over the reaction from Transformers fans to the book so far. Although some fans might not be fond of particular characters meeting their end in the story, Johnson is still delighted by the positive response the community has shown.

Johnson expressed his delight by saying, “It’s fantastic! I’m struggling to find the right words to express it. I can’t think of anything. It’s truly humbling,” he added.

Johnson expressed how intense the experience has been, followed by a heartfelt thank you and declaration of love for everyone involved. He added that he found it fantastic and the response was beyond his expectations. Initially, he picked up the book just for fun, but now it’s become something much bigger. It’s an honor for him, considering he’s been creating such artwork since childhood. As a bonus, he can use this to pay his bills – quite cool indeed! He ended by thanking Optimus again.
