Slow Horses cast reveal hilarious gift Gary Oldman gave them on day one

As a movie enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the captivating world of television series, I must confess that Slow Horses has undeniably left an indelible mark on my screen-viewing journey. The fourth season, which is about to grace our screens on Apple TV+, promises to be a riveting continuation of this gripping tale.

As the fourth season of “Slow Horses” nears, the actors are expressing admiration for star Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Jackson Lamb, but there seems to be some mixed feelings about a particular gift he gave them.

As a film enthusiast, I must say, there’s a certain charm about him that draws us together. He genuinely cares for our well-being and it shows. His passion for Slow Horses is palpable – it’s contagious, really, the way he talks about it with such love and admiration. Truly, he’s been a delight to work with, showering us all with warmth and kindness.

Saskia Reeves (playing Catherine Standish) commented: “In season 1, I vividly recall how he established the atmosphere, as Ros described behind the scenes. But on set, his acting approach was truly remarkable. He consistently gave the impression of improvising, even though he knew exactly what he was doing. This ambiguity boosted our confidence to follow suit.”

As a fan, I must say, he subtly guided us in a manner that resonated deeply with me. It was like, ‘I can wing it, but not really, I can freestyle, yet I’m meticulously prepared’, and I admire that blend. In my view, Gary essentially communicated to me, ‘yes, you can do that, let’s give it a go’, which I found incredibly inspiring.

Eleazar continued, “As a fun and playful gesture, he presented us with a jar containing gas, if you will. In other words, we each have a miniature glass volcano that contains a ‘fart.’ This just goes to show what a delightfully childlike sense of humor he has.”

When asked whether she had opened her jar, Eleazar said: “Yeah, it stinks.”

The fourth season of the show is adapted from Mick Herron’s fourth Slough House novel, “Spook Street,” and given that a fifth season has been announced, it appears the series isn’t running out of steam any time soon.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Will Smith hinted that the series might continue for as many as nine seasons, with Charlie Hunnam currently penning the ninth installment of the Slough House book series.

He mentioned that Mick [Herron] is currently working on the ninth book at the moment, but it will ultimately depend on Apple’s desires and audience interest. However, he has a knack for leaving readers wanting more rather than overstaying his welcome in the world of the show, as there are still many intriguing aspects to explore.

Don’t miss out on the fourth season of “Slow Horses,” streaming exclusively on Apple TV+ starting September 4th. Be sure to subscribe to Apple TV+ today so you can catch all the action!
