MaXXXine Gets Physical Media Release Date

MaXXXine Gets Physical Media Release Date

As a long-time fan of indie horror, I’ve been thoroughly captivated by Ti West’s latest trilogy, culminating with the recent release of MaXXXine, starring the brilliant Mia Goth. Having survived the blood-curdling suspense of X and Pearl, I can’t help but feel a bittersweet sense of closure as this chapter seems to have reached its end.

The movie “MaXXXine,” featuring Mia Goth, initially released in theaters in July and recently made available digitally, now has a release date for physical media. Although the trilogy directed by Ti West, which includes “X” and “Pearl,” first premiered in 2022, the fan reaction to these films has been remarkable. The first two installments were produced under COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, making their successes even more noteworthy. You can get your copy of “MaXXXine” on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, or DVD starting October 8th.

In the 1980s Hollywood scene, struggling adult film actress Maxine Minx secures a major role. However, as a series of murders target Hollywood’s starlets, there is growing concern that Maxine’s dark past may be exposed. The movie features Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki, Giancarlo Esposito, Halsey, Lily Collins, Michelle Monaghan, and Moses Sumney.

Special features on the physical media release include:

  • The Belly of the Beast
  • XXX Marks the Spot
  • Hollywood Is a Killer
  • Q&A with Writer-Director Ti West
  • Teaser Trailer
  • Theatrical Trailer

Before the debut of X, West was well-known in the indie horror scene due to films such as The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, and The Sacrament. Audiences were already eager for his comeback to the genre, but were further surprised at the world premiere of X when he unveiled that he had also shot the prequel Pearl. Just before the release of Pearl, it was then announced that MaxXXXine would follow, suggesting a conclusion to the storyline.

Viewers are curious whether the series has truly reached its final chapter, as West hinted that it might be most fitting to wrap up this universe at this point.

“For over two years, crafting a movie is an emotional rollercoaster – yet I’ve found three tales worth the journey thanks to A24. I’m incredibly proud of these films and feel fortunate to have shared this creative process with them. As I shared with Variety this summer, it feels like the right moment to draw the chapter closed, but there are seeds of ideas for expanding this cinematic world should the opportunity arise. In a few weeks, I anticipate waking up without the movie on my mind – a sign that the project is complete and ready for release. Whether this leads me back to ‘X’ or propels me towards something new remains to be seen.”

MaXXXine lands on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 8th.
