In this captivating game of celebrity lineage, I find myself utterly enthralled and somewhat envious! The lives these contestants lead, connected to such iconic figures of the past and present, is nothing short of extraordinary.
And the winner of Claim to Fame is…
The third season of the TV show ABC Competition Series concluded on August 28th, surprising everyone with the unveiling of four unexpected celebrity kin that nobody had anticipated before.
In the initial segment of our two-part grand finale, I found myself up against competitor Mackenzie. As the game unfolded, it became clear that she had correctly identified my iconic family member as Oscar-winning actor Marlon Brando, best known for his role in “The Godfather.” Unfortunately, this meant my journey came to an end in this competition.
In my case, Marlon is my grandfather whom I’ve had the privilege of growing up alongside for my entire life. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time with him, and I consider myself incredibly lucky for that experience.
With Mackenzie out of the way, it was down to Adam and Hud for the decisive contest over the $100,000 reward. However, after Adam emerged victorious in the physical challenge, he was granted the privilege of making the final guess of the night. And, seizing this opportunity, Adam attempted to unmask Mackenzie’s famous relative, who was none other than country singer Trace Adkins.
In a heartfelt video, the renowned country music artist expressed, “Mackenzie Lynn Adkins is my child. I’m thrilled to see you advance this far, and I take great pride in being your mom.”
And even though she didn’t win, Mackenzie had no regrets about her game play.
She expressed her feelings in a private moment, saying, “I almost took the victory, but truthfully, I couldn’t be more proud of reaching the final round.” She also mentioned, “During this journey, I encountered countless fantastic individuals who I know will be my lifelong friends.”
Then, in a double-whammy, Adam opted to guess again in an attempt to win it all—and he did.
Adam rightfully deduced that Hud is the child of the acclaimed musician, John Mellencamp, and the sibling of the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, Teddi Mellencamp.
Hud shared some special insight into his bond with the music legend.
“That’s my best friend we just saw,” he told the remaining cast. “I live a couple minutes away from him, I walk down to his house every day. We have breakfast every morning. He’s helped me out so much in this life. He’s taught me everything he knows.”
As for who Adam’s famous family member turned out to be? Michael Bolton.
In simple terms, the season three champion stated that Uncle Michael is my mom’s brother. He’s an incredibly dedicated person I’ve ever encountered, always emphasizing the importance of pursuing your dreams with determination and effort to create a fulfilling life. Not too long ago, he underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, but he remains as strong as an ox.
In a heartfelt gesture, the singer of “When a Man Loves a Woman” also penned down a letter to express his joy over his nephew’s triumph.
“Congratulations, Adam,” read the message. “We knew you could do it. I’m sure you played the game like you live your life – with integrity, determination and humility. We are all so proud and can’t wait to see where your next great adventure takes you.”

Following Mackenzie’s departure, Adam decided to guess who Hud was related to, and he was correct! It turns out that Hud is the son of musician John Mellencamp and the sibling of former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Teddi Mellencamp.
In the end, Adam emerged victorious, pocketing a prize of $100,000. Additionally, it came to light that his uncle is none other than Michael Bolton.
