WWE WrestleMania 42: Rumor Killer on 2026's Location

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of wrestling entertainment under my belt, I can’t help but feel a twinge of anticipation and disappointment at the same time regarding the rumors surrounding WWE WrestleMania 42. Having witnessed some truly epic moments in the City of Brotherly Love during WrestleMania 40, it would have been a treat to return there so soon. But alas, it seems Philadelphia won’t be hosting the event in 2026.

The blueprint for The Showcase of the Immortals in the 2020s remains somewhat unclear, but we have some hints about its upcoming locations. After the extraordinary triumph of WWE WrestleMania 40 at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, WWE declared that the 41st event would take place at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium in April 2025. Beyond the confirmed 2022 location, there are whispers that Minneapolis’s US Bank Stadium will host a future WrestleMania, and London mayor Sadiq Khan is making determined efforts to bring the monumental event to the United Kingdom earlier than expected.

WWE WrestleMania 42 remains without a host.

On a Saturday morning, Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro posted a video highlighting significant events scheduled for both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh in the year 2026. This video mentioned the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, the NFL Draft, and WrestleMania from WWE. However, this video has since been removed.

The governor’s office corrected a mistake by stating that WWE WrestleMania would not be coming back to Philadelphia in 2026.

The original statement stated: “This statement was incorrect, and we are sorry for any confusion caused amidst the thrilling happenings that Pennsylvania is eagerly anticipating in 2026. Regrettably, WrestleMania won’t take place here in ’26, but we are excited to carry on collaborating with WWE and wrestling enthusiasts from all over our state to organize more fantastic events in PA for the future.”

WWE often returns to popular venues for their grand event, WWE WrestleMania. For instance, WrestleMania 30 and 34 were held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (now Caesars Superdome) in New Orleans, while WrestleMania 29 and 35 took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. However, it would have been exceptional for a single city to host two editions of WWE WrestleMania within a three-year period.

Moving forward, it appears WWE may adjust future WrestleManias in Philadelphia or other northeastern cities if they return, given their hints. The opening night of WrestleMania 40 was affected by inclement weather, with a 50-degree temperature and 15 mph winds creating a colder atmosphere than usual. This cold snap was evident in the main event, where Roman Reigns’ usually sleek, wet hair looked dry and frizzy due to the change in conditions. The company’s higher-ups have suggested that climate considerations will influence their decisions about when and where they schedule future WrestleManias.
