Anyone who touches this ruby will acquire the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak! From this moment on, whoever reads these words, will be a relentless force, like the Juggernaut, forevermore! This is the warning inscribed on the Crimson Ruby, which transforms its holder into the almost unstoppable Juggernaut, emissary of Cyttorak the Destroyer, ruler of the Crimson Realms. 25 years have passed since the eight mystical powers of the Octessence – Cyttorak, Balthakk, Farallah, Krakkan, Ikonn, Raggadorr, Watoomb, and Valtorr – turned eight ordinary people into their eight Exemplars (in the five-part “Eighth Day” storyline that spanned issues of Iron Man, Thor, and Peter Parker: Spider-Man). Now, Marvel Comics is revisiting the destructive deity once more in 8 Deaths of Spider-Man.
In an exciting development for comic book fans, Marvel is hinting that Doctor Doom, who has taken over as the Sorcerer Supreme, will give Spider-Man additional lives in upcoming issues of Amazing Spider-Man. This new creative team, consisting of writer Joe Kelly (Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII) and artist Ed McGuinness (Hulk)), will introduce a Spider-Suit inspired by Doctor Doom, complete with magic abilities and Jack Kirby-style fists. To top it off, Spider-Man will receive extra lives to utilize as he faces the lethal Scions of Cyttorak, including Cyrios, Callix and his Red Hounds, and Cyra.
