As a die-hard wrestling fan with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and concern as Kenny Omega prepares for his long-awaited comeback. His journey has been nothing short of inspiring, battling through a life-threatening condition and showing unwavering determination to get back in the ring.
AEW’s Best Bout Machine has been shelved for nearly a year. Kenny Omega stepped away from the ring in December 2023 after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, an inflammatory condition within the intestine that can be fatal if not treated promptly and properly. This past May, Omega made a one-off appearance on AEW Dynamite to provide an update on his condition and recovery, revealing that his stomach is effectively a ticking time bomb moving forward but he has full intention to get back in the ring. Omega underwent successful surgery at some point over the summer. The surgery claimed some of his abdominal strength.
Regardless of any obstacles, Omega has been persistently working towards a comeback inside the ring. Lately, his social media updates have revealed him training with his old tag team partner, Kota Ibushi.
Kenny Omega Names Ideal Match, Location For Comeback
The Cleaner is attempting to reconcile with a longtime adversary, while potentially ending relationships with lifelong colleagues, as part of the preparations for his return bout.
In an interview with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Kenny Omega disclosed that he’s considering partnering up with his Wrestle Kingdom 13 opponent, Hiroshi Tanahashi, to take on his former The Elite comrades, The Young Bucks, during his upcoming return.
Should I have another match, it would be against the Bucks that I desire. I seek revenge, yet what matters most is doing it honorably. My initial encounter with Tanahashi was for a title, and in 2019, much was at stake for both of us. Now, if we face each other again, I wish for it to be as partners rather than adversaries.
As a gamer, I just witnessed a heart-stopping moment during my latest AEW binge. Omega, the guy who always leaves me on the edge of my seat, was stretchered out of his local arena. The brothers, Matt and Nick Jackson, orchestrated an assault on him that left the crowd gasping in disbelief.
Omega emphasized, “My top priority is getting back. If given clearance tomorrow, I’d be straight into the arena. There’s much I’m unsure about at the moment, but I’d jump at the chance to perform in an event similar to Wrestle Dynasty.
