The initial expansion for Diablo 4 presents some intriguing choices during character creation, which could leave newcomers a bit puzzled. Here’s our handy guide to help you navigate whether you’re an Eternal or Seasonal player.
1st step: Ensure that you’ve installed Diablo 4’s main game and the expansion pack, Vessel of Hatred, on your system. These must both be updated to their latest versions.
Step 1: Create a character
Should I create a Seasonal or Eternal character to play Diablo 4?
The series titled “Vessel of Hatred” kicks off with Season 6, dubbed as the “Season of Rising Hatred.” If you’re hesitant about joining in, you might want to create a Temporary Character. This gives you the flexibility to consider participating in additional content and earning rewards later. At the conclusion of the season, your Temporary Character will transform into an Everlasting Character, enabling continuous play without forfeiting any seasonal perks. Beginning with an Everlasting Character now would exclude you from these advantages, so it’s recommended to start with a Temporary Character first.
2. Change Campaign State
In your game of Diablo 4, you’ll find a red button to pick the starting point for your campaign. If you want to bypass the initial story and dive right into the Vessel of Hatred expansion, opt for the second option: ‘“Begin with Vessel of Hatred Campaign”.‘ After that, you’ll be asked to select a difficulty level. 3. Start the Campaign Quest in Kyovashad

Engaging with Olya initiates another story segment within the Vessel of Hatred campaign. All main quests are highlighted in yellow or purple. If you’ve opted for a Seasonal Character, you might encounter quests marked in blue which represent Season 6 quests. You can disregard these until you decide to participate in Season 6 activities.
