As I delve into the lives of these remarkable Duggar children, I find myself utterly captivated by the youngest of them all, Jennifer. Born as the baby of a family that once seemed endless, she has grown into a dependable, loyal, and fun young lady who brings joy to everyone around her.
You can count on Jill Duggar for these sweet details.
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s fourth-born child provided a peek at her younger sibling Jason Duggar’s October 3 wedding to Maddie Grace.
Jill posted the video on her Instagram Stories, expressing delight about the wonderful wedding, saying, “What a lovely event! We’re thrilled for you both.
In a three-part journey log with her spouse Derek Dillard and their children Israel (age 9), Samuel (age 7), and Frederick (age 2), they embarked on a trip that led them to Newport, Tennessee for a wedding. The family’s travel experiences were shared in the first two videos, and in her Oct. 6 post, they prepared for and attended the ceremony.
At the altar, the groomsmen, which consisted of James Duggar, Justin Duggar, Jackson Duggar, along with Jedidiah Duggar as best man, all wore similar tan suits. The couple then exchanged vows, finished their unity cord braiding, and shared their first kiss. Other Duggars present included Maddie’s bridesmaids Johanna Duggar, Jennifer Duggar, Jordan Duggar, and Josie Duggar.
Apart from Jill sharing brief glimpses of the wedding setup, including the reception area, cake-cutting moment, dessert table, bouquet throw, and their first dance, Derek made sure to play some “Soulja Boy” tunes while everyone was dancing.
Previously, Maddie, now engaged to the twelfth oldest member of the Duggars (as of August), contemplated about what she eagerly anticipated for their wedding day.
She expressed to People before their special occasion, “It’s simply the joy of everyone gathering to celebrate us, as it’s rare to have all your beloved ones assembled on a single day.” She added, “The pleasure is seeing everyone in one spot. It’s just a grand celebration where everyone comes together.
As for what Jason is looking forward to beyond their nuptials?
In simpler terms, the 24-year-old stated, “I believe we’re both quite straightforward individuals. It feels like we’re just living our lives side by side.” He continued, “We’re looking forward to sharing future experiences and moving forward together.
Jason, who initially met Maddie in December, popped the question to her in August on a beach. He had arranged red roses to form a large heart, and inside this heart was a glowing sign that said, “Will you become my wife?
“On 8/24, Jase asked me to marry him,” Maddie captioned the post. “I could not be more excited!!”

As for what Jason is looking forward to beyond their nuptials?
The 24-year-old expressed, “We both seem quite straightforward individuals, don’t we? It feels like sharing life’s journey with each other.” He continued, “We’re looking forward to experiencing future phases of life together and making progress step by step.
As a die-hard admirer since December, I found myself standing on a romantic beach in August, surrounded by a sea of crimson roses fashioned into an enormous heart. A luminous sign nestled within this floral masterpiece beckoned with the words, “Will you become my wife?” – a question that left me absolutely ecstatic and speechless, for I was proposing to none other than Maddie herself!

Originally a high school couple, these parents of 19 children (and grandparents to more than three dozen) began their relationship long ago.
Michelle shared an experience where she felt “rescued” at the age of 15. On a particular evening, Jim Bob was conducting house visits for his Baptist church when he received information from a friend that a “girl from school who had recently been saved and was a cheerleader” resided at the Ruark family’s home.
They extended an invitation to Michelle to attend Sunday school at their church, and Jim Bob mentioned that he hoped God would allow them to serve as each other’s spiritual guides – although it seems Michelle didn’t find their initial encounter particularly noteworthy. A year on, she applied for a job at the frozen yogurt shop owned by Jim Bob’s parents. In a blog post commemorating his birthday and their 33rd wedding anniversary in 2017, Michelle recounted that she met Jim Bob when he approached her at the counter where she was working near the cash register. She recalled him being shy but very kind. The conversation didn’t leave much of an impression on her, except that he eventually asked her to attend their junior-senior banquet with him!
At Shiloh Christian, they both went to a dinner together. However, it wasn’t until they continued their conversation about the Bible for extended hours at her family home that Michelle felt certain their connection was deepening. As she put it, “That’s when our hearts became one.” They graduated from high school in May 1984 and got married just a few months later in July, with Michelle being 17 years old and Jim Bob being 19 at the time.
The couple dedicated themselves to God and each other for the long run.
Jim Bob previously held a position as a state legislator, representing Arkansas’s sixth district in the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. During his tenure, he served as vice chair of the House Corrections and Criminal Law Subcommittee. He made an unsuccessful attempt at the U.S. Senate in 2002, and another failed bid in 2006 for the Republican nomination for Arkansas State Senate District 35.
He and Michelle, who are both real estate agents with valid licenses, have been actively involved in conservative movements. This part of their lives has made them both admirers and detractors. A robocall Michelle recorded in 2014 urging people to vote against a proposed anti-discrimination law in Fayetteville sparked controversy when she expressed concerns about the potential danger of allowing transgender individuals to use restrooms that align with their gender identity. This led to a Change.org petition asking TLC to cancel their show.
The city council approved the ordinance.
The eldest member of the Duggar family, Josh, entered the world on the 3rd of March in 1988. Similar to his activism, he also became a conservative advocate, working tirelessly for the Family Research Council.
In 2015, he resigned following the emergence of past police records which showed allegations against him for inappropriately touching multiple girls, including his sisters Jessa and Jill, when he was a young man. Later that year, Jessa spoke out in an interview with Fox News, maintaining that the accusations being leveled against her brother were “exaggerated and false.” She defended this stance because she was one of the victims herself.
As a loyal supporter, I stand by his side even after he confessed to infidelity. When he entered rehabilitation in 2016, his parents viewed it as the initial, vital move towards recovery and healing. Being a parent of three – daughter Mackynzie (born Oct. 8, 2009), sons Michael (June 15, 2011) and Marcus (June 2, 2013) – during the scandal, Anna delivered our fourth child, Meredith, on July 16, 2015, coincidentally the same day TLC canceled 19 Kids. Our fifth child, son Mason Garett, was born on Sept. 12, 2017, followed by daughter Maryella Hope on Nov. 27, 2019, and our seventh baby, Madyson Lily, joined us on Oct. 23, 2021.
In a federal indictment filed in April 2021, Josh was charged with a count apiece of receipt and possession of child pornography. He pleaded not guilty on both counts. In 2022, Josh was found guilty on both counts, and sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison.
Not long after Josh’s birth, Michelle conceived another child, but unfortunately experienced a miscarriage. As they were mourning this loss and seeking wisdom, they discovered they were expecting twins instead.
She expressed that it felt like a special gift, as it served as a boost for their spirits. God was guiding them through this process, and they were still learning. It’s quite extraordinary, she said, because she breastfeeds her babies, yet her children are very close in age – with one baby only eight months separating the other that is on the way. This is just another unique twist the Lord has orchestrated in our circumstances.
John-David and his sister Jana were born on Jan. 12, 1990.
Following a long-term acquaintanceship, spanning several years, and a swift courtship, John-David and Abbie officially tied the knot on November 3, 2018, after crossing paths at a church gathering in Oklahoma, where Abbie resides. They were blessed with a daughter named Grace Annette Duggar on January 7, 2020, and a son named Charlie Duggar in September 2022.
On his 30th birthday in January 2020, John-David’s twin admitted to him in a heartfelt note, “Ever since we were young children, people have asked if we had that ‘twin intuition.’ You know, the sensation of feeling what the other person is feeling or knowing what they are thinking…Well, John, I used to deny it, but now I can truthfully say that when our sister Gracie was born, I shared in all the joy you felt, so perhaps there really is something to it!
Jana went on to say, “It’s just lovely to see you and Abbie being parents! You both seem so natural at it! The very traits that make you such a great brother will also make you a fantastic father.
Meanwhile, Jana observed as 11 out of her 18 siblings got married, and eventually found love with Stephen Wissmann – who is the brother-in-law of her sister Hannah, who was married to a previous TLC star Jeremiah – she feels it was all part of God’s design.
In August 2024, just prior to her wedding, Jana expressed to People magazine that she hadn’t always grasped the overall plan, but trusted that God had the best intentions for everyone. As such, she chose to delay getting married. She explained, “Everyone’s life story unfolds uniquely. If we were all identical, life would be monotonous.
Jill was born on the 17th of May, 1991. Her love story resembles that of her parents’, as she first encountered Derick, a fellow resident who lived approximately 45 minutes away, on Christmas Day in 2011. During this festive season, he happened to stop by the Duggar residence while out caroling with his church group.
Jim Bob served as cupid, leading Jill and Derick to develop a connection through emails and Skype. In November of the same year, they visited Derick in Nepal, further strengthening their bond. Their affection for each other continued to deepen, and by February 2014, Derick proposed to Jim Bob’s daughter. They got married on June 21, 2014, and have since welcomed three sons: Israel (born April 6, 2015), Samuel (born July 8, 2017), and Frederick (born July 7, 2022).
In April 2024, Jill announced that she had experienced a miscarriage during their anticipation of their first daughter with Derick.
Back in the day, I used to be a die-hard fan of that dynamic duo who graced our screens on “19 Kids and Counting” and later “Counting On.” Yours truly was particularly smitten with Derick. But alas, my admiration took a hit when he made some disheartening comments towards another TLC star, the amazing Jazzy Jennings, that were downright homophobic. That unfortunate incident led to his dismissal from the show in 2017.
In the Amazon Prime Video documentary titled “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets“, which made its debut in June 2023, Jill and Derick delved into the contentious issues and religious viewpoints concerning her family that have stirred up debate.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s fifth child was born Nov. 4, 1992.
Jessa encountered Ben at church, and he started pursuing her romantically in 2013, which was an antiquated yet refreshing approach to relationships for many spectators. Prior to their engagement, the couple didn’t discuss their romantic lives, so Jim Bob clarified to People, “Courting involves getting to know each other in a group setting, with both families spending time together and the couple establishing shared objectives to decide if they are suitable for marriage. Dating often involves couples spending private time together, which can sometimes lead to a more intimate relationship.
In August 2014, Ben asked for Jessa’s hand in marriage and proposed. They exchanged their first physical bond by holding hands. The wedding took place on November 1, 2014. During her pregnancy with their first child, the cancellation of 19 Kids and Counting was announced. TLC then aired a special program about sexual abuse, involving Jill and Jessa, to enlighten viewers further on the topic. That winter, the sisters became the main characters in their own show, titled Jill and Jessa: Counting On. Over time, this show expanded to include other Duggar siblings, eventually becoming known as Counting On instead.
Simultaneously, Jessa and Ben added son Spurgeon to their family on November 5, 2015, followed by son Henry on February 6, 2017. Subsequently, they had daughter Ivy Jane on May 28, 2019, and daughter Fern in July 2021. In the winter of 2022, Jessa disclosed a miscarriage that occurred during the holiday season. Eventually, she delivered her fifth child, George, in December 2023.
The sixth Duggar child was born Dec. 21, 1993.
Jinger and Jeremy first encountered each other while serving in ministry in Laredo, Texas, and their romantic relationship began in 2016. They tied the knot on November 5, 2016, which happened to be the day of Jinger’s nephew Spurgeon’s birthday. Since they were part of a large family with 19 members, it was challenging to avoid overlapping significant events, and soon after their marriage, there were whispers about a possible pregnancy.
As an ardent devotee, I’d put it like this: “A year from now, I envision myself right here in Laredo, faithfully serving my ministry. My heart yearns to continue serving the Lord in any capacity I can.” This sentiment was expressed by me on a June 2017 episode of Counting On.
On July 19, 2018, their child named Felicity was born. It was in May of the same year when they announced that Jinger was expecting another child, but unfortunately, she had experienced a miscarriage the previous fall. In November 2020, they added Evangeline Jo to their family as a newborn daughter.
Born on January 20, 1995, individual number 7 found an ideal moment for romance when he proposed to Kendra, whom he had met through church, at his sister Joy-Anna’s wedding in May 2017, having only been together for a short time prior.
In a conversation with People magazine, Joseph shared that he was undeniably anxious before proposing, yet he didn’t fear a refusal because she had already expressed, “I’m only waiting for you!” After the proposal, Kendra exclaimed, “I am overjoyed and utterly surprised. There are so many things I want to express, but all I can say is shocked.
They’ve added three children to their family since then: son Garrett, who was born in June 2018; daughter Addison, born in November 2019; daughter Brooklyn, also born in February 2019; and son Justus, who joined them in May 2023.
Eighth in line, Josiah was born on Aug. 28, 1996.
A few months following the public revelation of his relationship with Lauren, the duo declared their engagement in March 2018. In a statement, he shared that the location where he proposed to her was the same spot where her parents got engaged. This site holds a significant amount of family history, making it a particularly meaningful place for Lauren.
Michelle, future mother-in-law of Lauren, expressed her affection for Lauren in a blog post video, saying, “We adore Lauren, she is truly a special young lady.” Jessa and Ben added their congratulations, along with treats shaped like X’s and O’s. Michelle playfully suggested, “I think you two might want to save your first kiss for the wedding day, but if you visit us here, we’ll have a sweet surprise waiting!” She then displayed the promised reward.
In the summer of 2015, a relationship with Marjorie Jackson ended amicably, and they chose separate paths. Looking back, Josiah shared in March 2016 to People magazine, “We had some wonderful moments together. We were simply attempting to listen to God’s guidance on everything. At that time, she didn’t believe it was the right moment, so we took a break for a while.
On June 30, 2018, they officially got married, telling People that their wedding day was “simply perfect.” Their first daughter, Bella Milagro, was born on November 8, 2019, which means ‘miracle baby.’ This was significant because Lauren had previously experienced a miscarriage in October 2018. They were blessed with another daughter named Daisy in 2022 and a son named Ezra in May 2023.
The ninth Duggar sibling was born Oct. 28, 1997.
She knew Austin for 15 years as a friend before he started courting her—after which they didn’t waste any time. He proposed in February 2017 and they married on May 26, 2017, at Cross Church in Rogers, Ark. (the wedding where Joseph proposed to Kendra!). They welcomed son Gideon Martin Forsyth on Feb. 23, 2018.
In 2019, Joy-Anna suffered a pregnancy loss with a baby girl at 20 weeks along.
On Aug. 21, 2020, the couple welcomed daughter Evelyn Mae Forsyth.
The couple’s third child, son Gunner James Forsyth, was born on May 17, 2023.
Jim Bob and Michelle’s second set of twins were born on Dec. 30, 1998.
In February 2017, it was announced that Jed was interning at his father’s former workplace, the Arkansas State Capitol, working for the House of Representatives. At just 21 years old, he is now running as a candidate for State Representative in District 89, with a focus on prioritizing Springdale’s conservative values. After a year of courting, Jed married Katey Nakatsu in April 2021. They have since welcomed a son, Truett, in May 2022, and their daughter, Nora Kate, in June 2023.
Jeremiah, a fully-qualified aviation instructor, is married to Hannah Wissmann, and together they are proud parents of Brynley, born in December 2022, and Brielle, born in February 2024.
Duggar child No. 12 was born on April 21, 2000.
In January 2017, it was reported by the Daily Mail that Jim Bob assisted Jase in purchasing a $33,000 property requiring repairs in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, which is approximately half an hour from the Duggar family’s main residence. Remarkably, he then launched his own construction company, yet found time to lend a hand to Jed with his political campaign as well.
In May 2024, he made their relationship public on Instagram with Maddie Grace, and they became engaged in August 2024.
Charmed No. 13, James arrived on July 7, 2001.
On his 19th birthday in the year 2019, his mom expressed, “He is the beloved ‘fun uncle’ among us all, and many young lads around here aspire to emulate him. James possesses an incredible ability to accomplish almost anything he dreams up. As a child, we would often discover James tinkering with various household appliances. He has always been one to disassemble things, understand their inner workings, and then reassemble them – with some unique enhancements here and there!
This year, James dedicated himself diligently to earning his Commercial Driver’s License, and now he’s a master of maneuvering large trucks and heavy equipment! We’re excitedly anticipating the wonders that await him in the future.
No. 14 arrived on Nov. 15, 2002.
And from the department of growing up so fast…
In September 2020, Justin made their relationship with Claire known to the public. They became engaged in November of the same year, and on February 26, 2021, they officially tied the knot.
Here with his big sister Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle’s 15th child was born May 23, 2004.
When Jackson turned sixteen on his birthday, his mother Michelle commended his wit and mentioned that she was well aware of his eagerness to obtain a driver’s license.
Duggar baby No. 16 was born Oct. 11, 2005.
Michelle commented on Johannah’s 15th birthday in 2020 that this girl is full of fun and sociable, and enjoys meeting new people. Her younger sisters look up to her as if she were the moon itself, and Michelle feels incredibly blessed to be Johannah’s mother!
On August 2, 2007, No. 17 made its appearance. At that time, “17 Kids and Counting” was a new show, and Jenni was the youngest member of the family.
Now, OMG, she’s a teenager.
Michelle wrote when her daughter turned 13, “Jennifer is trustworthy, devoted… and a joy! She’s adored by her nieces, nephews, who often cling to her because they hate being put down. Jennifer also shows great affection for animals and diligently cares for them daily! Notably, she recently assisted in rearing seven tiny bunnies!
Here on the right, the penultimate Duggar child was born Dec. 18, 2008.
Back in 2019, Jordyn-Grace was described by her mother as a sociable girl who seems to instantly click with everyone she meets. Her laughter, it was said, often lights up our day with its infectious cheer.
As a devoted follower, I’m proudly sharing a heartwarming story about little Meredith, my niece who made her way into this world on the 10th of December, 2009, three months ahead of schedule and weighing merely 1 pound, 6 ounces. Despite the early start, Josie spent six arduous months in the neonatal intensive care unit, but today she’s thriving and doing wonderfully well.
