Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve have given us some of the most impressive and intellectually stimulating science fiction films of the last fifteen years with movies like Inception, Interstellar, Tenet, Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and the Dune films. Both directors have new projects planned for 2026: Nolan will explore epic fantasy with The Odyssey, and Villeneuve will conclude his Dune series with Dune: Part Three. However, next year will also bring new films from two giants of the sci-fi genre: Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott.

Premiering on December 16, 2016, Justice League Action brought together many of DC’s most popular characters in a distinctive animated series. Unlike previous Justice League shows which had longer, connected storylines, this series featured self-contained episodes, typically around twelve minutes long. While aimed at a younger audience than other DC animated programs, Justice League Action stood out with its creative stories and talented voice cast.

Directed by David Lean and filmed by Freddie Young using the impressive Super Panavision 70 format, Lawrence of Arabia revolutionized filmmaking with its stunning visuals. The film treated the desert landscape as a central character, employing wide, on-location shots, natural lighting, and a distinctive use of space and focus. Peter O’Toole’s portrayal of T.E. Lawrence, based on a real historical figure, presented a complex and conflicted hero, moving beyond simple good-versus-evil stories. Upon its release, Lawrence of Arabia was a huge success with both audiences and critics, becoming a model for epic filmmaking and inspiring directors like Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, and Steven Spielberg.

This led Nintendo to actively seek a stronger position in the evolving mobile gaming market. The Nintendo Switch proved to be a huge success, with its combination of home console and portable play driving record-breaking sales. Nintendo also tried to expand its presence on phones with games like Super Mario Run. Developed by the team behind the original Mario games, Super Mario Run remains a notable example of both the potential and the challenges of adapting a classic character like Mario to mobile platforms.

Toni Collette received critical acclaim for her role in the popular psychological thriller, Wayward, where she played the leader of a school for challenging teenagers. When ScreenRant asked about the possibility of continuing the show – something creator Mae Martin has hinted at – Collette enthusiastically confirmed she’d absolutely be involved if it happens.
