For me, a prime example of this comes from what’s often considered the worst Harry Potter movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. I’ve actually come to appreciate it more over time and now think it’s underrated. I used to dislike the scene where Harry and Hermione dance in this film, particularly when I first saw it in 2010. It happened after Ron left the search for Horcruxes, and as they danced in the tent to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ “O Children,” I found it really awkward and uncomfortable. What bothered me even more was that this scene didn’t even appear in the original book, and as a devoted reader, I was quite bothered by that.

I’m such a big fan of Banana Fish! It actually started as a manga way back in 1985, and ran for almost a decade thanks to Akimi Yoshida. The story follows Ash Lynx as he gets caught up in a really intense mystery involving street crime in New York City. Then, after all those years, an anime adaptation finally came out in 2018! It’s 24 episodes long and was beautifully animated by Studio MAPPA – you probably know them from hits like Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan, and Jujutsu Kaisen. What’s really wild is the English dub – instead of using voice actors, they used AI to create it! It’s seriously something you have to hear for yourself to believe. While DC Comics has inspired some fantastic movies, they don’t always capture the essence of the characters. Too often, a beloved DC hero or villain is underused or misrepresented, either because the filmmakers didn’t understand what made them popular, or because plans for future storylines fell through. It’s frustrating to see so much potential go to waste when it comes to these iconic figures.

While “The Age of Apocalypse” is generally good, it doesn’t stand out as exceptional overall – some issues are stronger than others, though the artwork is consistently impressive. However, within that event, there’s a truly hidden gem: Generation Next issues 1-4. This story, crafted by Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo, is a gripping and emotionally powerful tale with stunning visuals that deserves far more recognition. In fact, it’s arguably the best X-Men story of the 1990s, and it’s time people started acknowledging that.

Fifty-three years ago today, the game Pong was released, and it’s widely remembered as one of the first commercially successful video games. Its arrival in California arcades was a pivotal moment for Atari and the entire video game industry. People who had never seen anything like it gathered around the machine, fascinated by the ability to control a game on a screen. Pong, which started as a basic tennis-style game, quickly became incredibly popular, spreading from bars to arcades nationwide. It wasn’t just a hit; it truly launched the commercial video game industry, which has since grown into a multi-billion dollar global phenomenon.

Starting next month, fans in the US and other areas will be able to see Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution in theaters. It includes a recap of the intense Shibuya Incident arc from season two, but the biggest news is that it will also premiere the first two episodes of the new season – giving fans their first glimpse of the Culling Game. Next week’s biggest release is definitely Marvel Cosmic Invasion, but there’s also a PlayStation 5 version of Red Dead Redemption coming out, along with several new games available through PS Plus.
