Dogecoin founder claims Hal Finney is Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto

  • Billy Markus suggested Hal Finney as a potential creator amid ongoing debates.
  • Polymarket data indicated a prevailing belief that Satoshi’s identity will remain “not proven in Q4.”

As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech and finance sectors, I have seen my fair share of enigmatic figures that have revolutionized entire industries. The ongoing mystery surrounding Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, is one such intrigue that continues to captivate the crypto community.

Headlines are buzzing about HBO’s latest documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Enigma,” which has sparked renewed interest in uncovering the real person behind Bitcoin’s creation, Satoshi Nakamoto.

The film suggested a possibility that Peter Todd, a well-known Bitcoin [BTC] developer, might be Satoshi Nakamoto – an idea he vehemently denied.

“I’m not Satoshi.”

Despite his denial, the debate surrounding the mysterious creator of Bitcoin has not been resolved, with more individuals entering the conversation and adding to the intrigue surrounding the hidden person behind Bitcoin’s inception.

Did Dogecoin’s founder reveal the real Satoshi?

Amid the recent buzz sparked by HBO’s documentary, Dogecoin [DOGE] founder, Billy Markus shared his thoughts on the identity of Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

He took to X (formerly Twitter), dismissing the claim that Peter Todd could be BTC’s creator, and clarified,

“He [Peter Todd]’s one of the more OG core devs but not the creator.”

When questioned about who Nakamoto might be, Markus readily shared his hypothesis without any delay.

“Hal Finney and friends.”

This lively comment adds another intriguing perspective to the longstanding enigma surrounding the beginnings of Bitcoin’s existence.

For people who aren’t familiar, Billy Markus, also known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto on the internet, was one of the pioneers in the realm of digital currencies.

Together with Jackson Palmer, Markus initiated the creation of DOGE in 2013 by leveraging Bitcoin’s underlying code to develop the widely recognized and humorous cryptocurrency known as the “Meme Coin.

Why did Billy Markus choose Hal?

It’s possible that Markus suggested Hal Finney as a potential creator of Bitcoin, given his significant background in cryptography and his early work related to Bitcoin.

Back in the day, I was fortunate enough to be one of the earliest adopters of Bitcoin, a digital currency that’s now widely recognized. On January 12, 2009, I received my first 10 Bitcoins from Nakamoto, a pioneer in this field.

His research into Reusable Proof of Work (RPOW) and his involvement in the cypherpunk movement substantiate this hypothesis.

Nevertheless, uncertainties linger, given Finney’s straightforward denials and transparency regarding his participation, going so far as to disclose email conversations and cryptocurrency wallet information to refute allegations.

In 2009, Finney was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Given his deteriorating condition, it would have been challenging for him to continue with the rigorous work required in Bitcoin’s development.

It’s worth noting that while certain individuals perceive resemblances in their writing, there are others who highlight contrasting features in their communication and programming methods when comparing him to Nakamoto.

Polymarket and Bitcoin trend

Therefore, with much debate about who actually created Bitcoin, data from Polymarket indicates a strong belief that the creator’s identity may not be revealed during the last three months of 2021, implying that the enigma might continue to persist in the coming quarter.
