S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Has 3 Difficulty Options, Normal Option is “Really Difficult”

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has me both excited and slightly apprehensive. The open-world survival horror first-person shooter is a genre I adore, and the prospect of exploring the desolate, irradiated wastelands surrounding the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone sounds utterly enticing.

Among the remaining game releases scheduled for 2024, the much-anticipated title S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has garnered significant attention. As its open world survival horror first-person shooter release date draws near, only about a month away, developer GSC Game World is still revealing more information, such as how they plan to tackle difficulty in the game.

When discussing with Windows Central, the developer disclosed that at its launch, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will offer three levels of difficulty. Notably, GSC Game World has designed the game to be a challenging experience from the get-go, even when played on Normal mode. For those seeking an extra challenge, the higher setting will provide tougher gameplay, along with the removal of certain HUD and UI elements for added realism.

The studio mentions that upon launch, there will be three levels of challenge, however they’ve specifically designed the ‘normal’ setting to be quite tough. They also offer a harder mode that not only increases the game’s difficulty, but also reduces visual elements such as HUD and UI for a more immersive experience.

The highly anticipated game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is scheduled to release on November 20th for Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. Remarkably, it will be accessible through Game Pass the moment it launches.
