Rumors started circulating after Cosmic Marvel shared information from DanielRPK stating that Marvel Studios wants Peele to direct a film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). I stumbled onto a surprisingly tense thriller on Netflix recently – The Girl Who Got Away. It’s a 2021 indie film that originally came out four years ago, and it’s written and directed by Michael Morrissey. The story centers around a female serial killer who breaks free after years in custody, and a detective convinced she’s after one last victim who got away. It’s a solid find for horror fans, but honestly, the biggest surprise for me was seeing Chukwudi Iwuji – who you might recognize from recent blockbuster hits – in one of the lead roles. Definitely a bit of a left turn if you’re expecting superhero action!
