Agatha All Along: What’s Next for Agatha and Billy in the MCU?

Agatha All Along: What’s Next for Agatha and Billy in the MCU?

As a seasoned gamer and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless heroes and villains, I can confidently say that the future of Agatha Harkness and Billy Kaplan is as bright as WandaVision’s sitcom glow.

Even though Agatha All Along has wrapped up, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of some of its characters reappearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One advantage of a shared universe is that characters from one project can potentially show up in another. For instance, Kathryn Hahn’s character Agatha Harkness was the main antagonist in WandaVision, and her captivating portrayal led to her leading the spinoff series, Agatha All Along. Additionally, Joe Locke played Wanda Maximoff’s son Billy in Agatha All Along, and the show was rich with Easter eggs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the conclusion of Agatha All Along, viewers witnessed Billy donning his authentic Wiccan costume based on comic lore, and although Agatha gave her life to Death (portrayed by Aubrey Plaza) in order to save Billy, she continues to haunt as a ghost, aiding Billy in his quest to locate his twin brother Tommy. Here, we speculate where these enchanting witches might appear next.

Doctor Strange 3

Agatha All Along: What’s Next for Agatha and Billy in the MCU?

In the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Scarlet Witch slipped into darkness due to the influence of the Darkhold, causing her to search the multiverse for her lost children. Despite her descent into evil, there was a glimmer of goodness within her as she destroyed Mount Wundagore from inside its walls. However, Scarlet Witch’s fate remained uncertain at the end of “Agatha All Along,” with her survival left unclear.

For some time now, there’s been talk about a potential third “Doctor Strange” movie, with Sam Raimi speculated to resume his director role. Given that Wanda Maximoff was last seen in “Doctor Strange 2”, it’s not unreasonable to speculate that her return could be featured in the next installment. Moreover, since Agatha and Billy are deeply connected to the Scarlet Witch, their pursuit of Tommy might intersect with the Sorcerer Supreme. Who knows? Doctor Strange might even lend a hand in their search too.

Vision Quest

Apart from Agatha All Along, another spin-off of WandaVision is under development, and it’s not just Agatha who’s getting her own story. Reports suggest that Vision will be starring in a Disney+ series, tentatively named Vision Quest. In the original WandaVision, we saw two versions of Vision: one with his repaired body sporting a white theme and another created by Wanda Maximoff’s powers. The latter disappeared when Wanda lifted her spell over Westview. Interestingly, the series is said to be overseen by the showrunner of Star Trek: Picard, Terry Matalas.

In a fitting turn of events, if Marvel’s Vision series were to bring Tommy back into the limelight much like how Agatha All Along did for Billy, it would be quite poetic. Tommy, who is destined to become Speed and join the Young Avengers, could aid Vision in his personal growth. By the end of the series, Vision might find himself reuniting with both Agatha and Billy.

Young Avengers

It seems that the stories of “WandaVision,” “Agatha All Along,” and “Vision Quest” could all be setting up for the formation of the Young Avengers team. Over time, there have been many whispers about this group within Marvel’s universe, with potential members appearing in various TV shows and movies. For instance, Kate Bishop was introduced in “Hawkeye,” Stinger/Stature may appear in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” America Chavez is expected to feature in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Wiccan and Speed seem to be part of the narrative in “WandaVision,” Patriot might make an appearance in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” Ironheart could emerge in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and Ms. Marvel is set to assemble a team in her self-titled Disney+ series as well as the movie “The Marvels.

It’s simply a question of time before the Young Avengers officially appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as a group. The most plausible scenario is that Marvel will gather the Young Avengers for a special limited series on Disney+, which would enable their stories to be unfolded over multiple episodes, ensuring each member gets their moment in the spotlight. In this series, Agatha and Billy’s narratives might lead to Tommy’s return, while the rest of the Young Avengers band together to confront a fresh or recurring threat in the MCU.
