Resident Evil 2 Hits 14.5 Million Units Sold, Resident Evil 3 at 9.2 Million

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Capcom’s modern Resident Evil games have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride of terror and excitement. The consistent sales figures of these games are a testament to their quality and the enduring appeal of the Resident Evil franchise.

It’s truly remarkable how consistently Capcom’s contemporary Resident Evil games continue to sell, even years after their initial release. And it’s no surprise, given the trend, that this remains the case. Recently, Capcom has updated its Platinum Titles page, which presents sales figures for all of its million-plus selling games on a quarterly basis, and has supplied new data for its Resident Evil series.

Specifically, Resident Evil 2 has garnered attention, as the 2019 remake recently reached sales of 14.5 million units, marking an increase of 300,000 units from the previous quarter. Though it hasn’t surpassed the series’ bestselling game yet, with Resident Evil 5 boasting a lifetime sales total of 15.1 million units, if the remake continues its current sales trend, it should easily reach that milestone within the next few months.

Simultaneously, the 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 is still performing strongly in sales. It has now reached 9.2 million units sold, adding an extra 200,000 units during the quarter ending September 30. Moreover, as previously disclosed, the remake of Resident Evil 4 in 2023 has already sold 8 million units.
