Strictly Come Dancing teams up with Bluey for special routine

As a seasoned movie buff with a soft spot for animated characters that resonate with the young and young at heart, I must say this crossover between Bluey and Strictly Ballroom has me genuinely excited! Growing up, I’ve always been a fan of both shows – the whimsical charm of Bluey and the flair of Strictly Come Dancing have captivated my imagination in their own unique ways.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I never thought I’d say this, but here’s an unexpected fusion: The endearing animated character, Bluey, is all set to glide into the world of Strictly Ballroom! It’s not just any dance; it’s a unique routine created especially for Children in Need. Can’t wait to see it!

In the popular kids’ series on Disney Plus, Bluey, its main character, is set to dance with professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing – namely Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Gorka Marquez, Johannes Radebe, and Michelle Tsiakkas. They’ll engage in a fun dance routine that includes simple steps for viewers to follow along, including The Mashed Potato, The Alligator, and The Floss.

The dance steps we’re preparing are for a lively, coordinated group jive set to Land of 1000 Dances, and we encourage everyone to join in by posting their own moves on social media with the hashtags #DanceWithBlueyChallenge and #BBCChildrenInNeed.

To learn more about participating and joining the excitement, enthusiasts are welcome to check out the BBC Children in Need – Bluey’s Dance Mode Challenge webpage.

During this year’s BBC Children in Need live broadcast, scheduled for 7pm on Friday, 15th November, on both BBC One and iPlayer, you’ll find a dance performance. This event aims to collect funds to aid the charity’s efforts in supporting children and young people nationwide.

Jones exclaimed, “Over time, numerous stars have danced in the ballroom, but this is exceptional! I can’t conceive of a more fitting event for us to welcome Bluey than for BBC Children in Need. It promises to be an amazingly fun occasion!

Simultaneously, Sam Moor, a producer from Ludo Studio where Bluey originated, expressed: “It’s truly an honor for Bluey to be asked to join the Strictly Dancefloor and showcase some of her memorable dance steps.

The skillful work of our animators has truly breathed life into her character, placing her right in the heart of Strictly’s dazzling atmosphere. We eagerly anticipate the delight fans of both shows will experience as they watch this special moment unfold during Children in Need night.

On Thursdays, 14th November at 6:30 PM, catch a glimpse of the making of Bluey’s dance when you tune into Strictly: It Takes Two, available both on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
