The team behind the game NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD, including writer nyalra, is creating a new dark visual novel called Sister Other Paranoia. It’s scheduled for release on PC via Steam in August 2026 and will be available in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
From the creators of NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD comes a moody visual novel about a light novel author who can suddenly read minds. But instead of bringing him closer to others, this ability actually makes him feel more alone. His only source of comfort is his talented, but equally isolated, younger sister.
Story
“Onii-chan, you really are a lonely person.”
“Did you lose faith in me?”
“No. I love you, onii-chan.”
Overwhelmed by the negativity around him and deeply afraid of others, the main character gains the power to hear people’s thoughts.
I was so excited to read about this author! He’s always been a bit of a loner, pouring his heart into writing a light novel. And get this – it actually won an award for new writers! But sadly, instead of support, he mostly faced jealousy. It really hurt him, and made him even more withdrawn because he already struggled with trusting people. It’s just so frustrating that those around him didn’t even realize how much their actions were affecting him – he’s a really sensitive guy.
His only remaining comfort is his younger sister, who lives with him.
It’s heartbreaking to watch them. They’re so desperate to survive, they’ve become completely reliant on each other in a really unhealthy way. It’s like they’re sinking together, and it’s just…toxic. Every night it feels like they pull each other further down instead of lifting each other up.
I spend my days isolated, dwelling on my own biases and complaining about everything. I basically took the ideas from Dostoevsky, simplified them, and turned them into a typical light novel. I did my best, in my own clumsy way. I even had the female characters discuss ‘existentialism,’ pretending it held some deeper meaning.
Gameplay
This game is a classic visual novel in the traditional style. Text appears on the full screen, and you can read at your own pace. If you’d rather focus on the artwork, you can simply hide the text with a right-click. It’s as simple as that: read, click, and enjoy!
Experience a bleak and oppressive world through the eyes of someone who feels everything deeply… and then find solace back home with his little sister, the only source of joy and comfort he has left.
When conflicts with others become overwhelming, you might experience intense anger at their frustrating thoughts and actions. This ability allows you to manipulate them into taking their own lives during those moments of extreme rage.
That unpleasant person. That conceited jerk. Target their deepest vulnerabilities—the things they hide from everyone—and defeat them. You won’t be directly responsible for any harm, so you’ll avoid consequences. The real problem lies with those who blindly follow societal norms, lacking originality and good taste.
…But is that really okay?
What is happiness, anyway?
And in the end—what kind of future will the protagonist and his sister walk into?
Witness it with your own eyes.
