EastEnders reveals big shock for Linda Carter in early iPlayer edition

As a seasoned EastEnders viewer with over two decades of watching under my belt, I must say that the latest twist in Linda Carter‘s storyline has left me quite taken aback, but not entirely surprised by the soap opera’s penchant for shocking revelations. The cat being let out of the bag about Linda’s father John and his secret lover, Drew Peacock, is a bold move that adds another layer to the Carter family’s already complex dynamics.

heads up: tonight’s (Tuesday 19th November) EastEnders episode on BBC iPlayer and BBC One might reveal some plot twists, so tread cautiously if you want to avoid spoilers!

In the world of EastEnders, I found myself left reeling after my mom, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), dropped a bombshell from our past that left me utterly shocked.

During Elaine’s bachelorette party, her evening was disrupted upon spotting drag queen Drew Peacock (portrayed by Paul Clayton) at The Queen Vic, prompting her to ask him to leave the venue.

When Linda attempted to interrogate Elaine but failed, she stumbled upon Drew at the laundry mat instead. Upon recognizing who Linda truly was, Drew showed visible emotions.

Drew refused to tell Linda what was going on, adding that Elaine had been through enough.

Upon their return to the tavern, Linda found herself even more perplexed. Settling in alongside her son Johnny (Charlie Suff), they prepared to hear Elaine’s clarification of the situation.

It was uncovered by Elaine that Linda’s deceased father, John, was involved in a prolonged extramarital relationship. On an unexpected evening, Elaine found him confessing all his secrets at home.

When Linda thought that Drew was a friend of her father’s with knowledge of John’s unfaithfulness, it was Johnny who had to make clear the truth – Drew was actually John’s hidden boyfriend.

Years ago, when Elaine confided in Linda about her past affair with someone other than John, she admitted that what she truly craved was the feeling of being desired by another man.

Beyond this, Elaine’s emotional turbulence was the driving force behind her constant display of a cheerful facade while painting on a smile. She firmly believed that the performance should continue regardless of any circumstances.

However, Linda couldn’t accept the idea that her father was gay, and she became furious with Elaine. This anger escalated to the point where Elaine ended up slapping Linda’s daughter due to Linda’s harsh and hurtful remarks going overboard.

As Linda continued to get increasingly intoxicated with alcohol, Elaine remained outside, occasionally puffing on a rare cigarette. Meanwhile, Johnny decided to take his grandmother for a stroll.

Noticing Drew sipping a drink on the balcony, our gaze intertwined with his, I appeared to be making my way towards him, as if to engage in conversation with him, following Elaine’s lead.

Is it possible for Elaine to accept and cope with everything that transpired? And will Linda manage to leave the recent revelation behind her?
