1991’s classic PS1 game has unexpectedly been brought back to life for modern gaming enthusiasts. One such game was Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams, initially released in Japanese arcades in 1991 but didn’t gain Western attention until 1993 via TurboGrafx-CD. To be precise, starting yesterday, the nostalgic ’90s game can be played on PS4/PS5 and Nintendo Switch under the title Arcade Archives – Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton. This re-release retails for $7.99, and it couldn’t come at a better moment, as Cotton Fantasy 2 is being developed after all these years.

Back in 1991, I got my hands on this gem called “Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton,” a shooter game from Success. As the main character, Cotton, I navigate through the fairy world, taking down fearsome beast hearts using my shots, bombs, and magical abilities. It’s a blast to play, offering challenges that cater to both hardcore gamers and newcomers alike!

The updated version offers some fresh features like adjustable game difficulty and a worldwide leaderboard to assess your skills against top players globally, reminiscent of this classic arcade game’s elite. However, it maintains the original 90s gaming experience, although contemporary control mechanisms may subtly modify certain aspects.
