As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must admit that the gaming industry has seen its fair share of delays, but the anticipation for Hyper Light Breaker has been a rollercoaster ride. Heart Machine’s upcoming title is shaping up to be an exciting departure from its predecessor, Hyper Light Drifter. With the promise of open-world rogue-lite gameplay, 3D visuals, and co-op action, my curiosity has been piqued.
After experiencing several setbacks, Heart Machine has officially revealed that Hyper Light Breaker will kick off its early access phase on January 14th, 2025. The latest overview trailer introduces us to the group of heroes known as the Breakers who aim to vanquish the Abyss King and rebuild civilization. Take a look at the video below for more details.
In contrast to its forerunner, Hyper Light Drifter, Hyper Light Breaker stands out as an open-world rogue-lite game that offers fully 3D graphics. Players engaging in this adventure have the freedom to personalize their characters with diverse weapons, enjoy rides on hoverboards, and conquer bosses called the Crowns. The early access version encompasses these fundamental elements, multiplayer co-op for up to three players, a multitude of weapons and enhancements, and an assortment of skins.
It’s planned for a year, which could change based on feedback. The final game will feature all loadouts, weapons, upgrades, run modifiers, NPCs with a “full breadth of animations”, the entire story, a fully fleshed-out OST for levels, and performance optimization. The price will increase at launch, though there may also be an increase during early access.
