Kojima Productions Output Affected By Ongoing Actors Strike

As a passionate gamer and follower of Hideo Kojima‘s incredible journey, I can’t help but marvel at his resilience and adaptability in the ever-changing landscape of gaming and filmmaking. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes have been a thorn in the side of many creators, including the illustrious Mr. Kojima, whose vision for Physint and OD has been temporarily derailed. However, even in the face of adversity, Hideo continues to push forward with unwavering determination, much like the protagonists in his games.

The year 2024 was a rollercoaster ride for Kojima, marked by both triumphs and tribulations. The progress on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach gave us a glimmer of hope that we’ll soon be stepping into Kojima-verse once more. His essays for Japanese publications anan and Nikkei, his radio appearances, and the organization of the “Hidemys” were testament to his versatility as an artist and storyteller.

The live-action Death Stranding film with A24 is a project I eagerly anticipate, and I can’t wait to see how Hideo’s unique vision translates to the big screen. His social media presence continues to be a source of inspiration for me, as he shares his thoughts on films, books, and the latest celebrity additions to his ever-growing menagerie.

In the grand scheme of things, delays due to strikes might seem trivial compared to the sheer amount of creativity Hideo pours into his work. And yet, I can’t help but wonder what hilarious twist of fate would have Kojima, a man who has given us such intricate narratives and mind-bending plots, find himself stuck in a never-ending writers’ strike! But then again, that might just make for an even more fascinating storyline.

As a devoted fan, I’m deeply saddened to share that Hideo Kojima’s innovative blend of filmmaking and gaming, known as Physint, has unfortunately become a casualty in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes that started in August 2024. These strikes are expected to persist into 2025. Despite his optimism about resuming casting this year, Kojima’s upcoming project OD, being developed for Xbox Game Studios, has also been impacted by these strikes.

In a detailed New Year’s Eve message on platform X, Kojima shared his reflections about 2024, which was a mixed bag of highs and lows for him as a developer. Notably, progress continued on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Additionally, Kojima penned essays for publications like anan and Nikkei, made radio appearances, and orchestrated the “Hidemys”; an event that seems to be Hideo’s interpretation of the Emmy Awards, with the exception of Japanese book releases.

HideoTube carries on, as plans for a live-action Death Stranding movie in collaboration with A24 began. Meanwhile, Kojima continued to share insightful comments about films and literature through social media, frequently revealing the newest star to be added to his expanding collection via scanning.
