After 25 years on Coronation Street, Sue Cleaver will be leaving her role as Eileen Grimshaw.
In a chat with The Sun on Sunday, Cleaver expressed her desire to adapt to new experiences following her 60th birthday, signifying an eagerness for change.
“I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street,” she told the publication.
As the door remains ajar, I chose my 60th birthday as the moment to welcome transformation, seek fresh experiences, and live boldly.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Sue deeply cherishes her experience on Corrie and considers the cast and team as her beloved family. However, recognizing an opportunity to pursue fresh endeavors, she decided it was best to make that move now.
Last summer, she had a conversation with her superiors not long after wrapping up Sister Act. During this talk, she expressed her desire to venture into different acting opportunities. This timely discussion allowed the writers ample time to develop a compelling departure narrative for her, one that fans are sure to appreciate.
