Playing Nice star on the “twist” halfway through series: “It gets a lot darker”

Tonight debuts the four-part drama “Playing Nice” on our screens, and while the second episode airs tomorrow night (and can also be watched along with the rest of the series on ITVX), James McArdle has shared that the second half of the series takes a significantly “grimmer” turn.

The upcoming series focuses on four parents discovering that their babies were accidentally swapped at birth. This revelation leaves them pondering whether to keep the children they’ve raised or exchange them for their biological offspring.

As the season progressed, things started to shift, and it seemed as though we were dealing with two distinct periods. The initial part was filled with typical, minor disagreements among ourselves, while the latter part of the series brought about a rather unexpected interaction between us.

McArdle mentioned: “It’s nice when you’re with a group of four who you trust and enjoy being around, and we’ve each worked together on various endeavors in the past.

Initially, both sets of parents aim to cooperate and find a way for both to be involved in their children’s lives. However, it becomes evident that McArdle’s portrayal of Miles as a laid-back father is not entirely accurate.

Discussing his personality further, McArdle mentioned: “He’s an individual who built himself up, which inevitably raises some queries regarding his origins.

Additionally, his capacity to shape his own life has required an unwavering focus on his objective – he’s remarkably persistent.

His unyielding spirit is undeniable; he seems to believe that defeat is not an option. In other words, he’s the type of person who will persevere no matter what, and any challenges along the way are merely hurdles for him to overcome. Playing that role was quite engaging.

McArdle will be accompanied by James Norton, Niamh Algar, and Jessica Brown Findlay as they portray the main characters – the four individuals from two couples whose lives are dramatically altered following a revelation delivered by the hospital.

Initially, they appear to be in agreement about the solution, but as events unfold, it’s evident that secret agendas are involved.

To what extent can each pair truly rely on the biological parents of their child, or each other, as the situation becomes increasingly challenging for Pete and Maddie? They come to understand that they will go to any length to preserve the unity of their family.
