At CES 2025, Samsung unveiled its latest lineup of laptops: the Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 Pro 360. These new devices are equipped with Intel’s newest Core Ultra processors (Arrow Lake). With an impressive 47 TOPS, these PCs are designed with AI capabilities in mind, offering features like AI Select and Photo Remaster. Additionally, third-party applications can utilize the NPUs on these laptops to perform AI tasks.
As a researcher, I must inform you that the pricing details for the forthcoming laptops remain undisclosed at present. However, these innovative devices are anticipated to commence shipping as early as February.
The new Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 models have many similarities with their previous versions, but this might not be entirely unwelcome given the impressive ratings our peers gave to the Galaxy Book4 Pro and Galaxy Book4 Pro 360. While iterative updates can sometimes feel tedious, a hardware upgrade and ensuring the latest components are installed make these laptops appear quite promising.
It’s worth noting that neither model of the Galaxy Book5 Pro is a Copilot+ PC. Instead, they are both AI-equipped computers with various AI capabilities. However, Samsung’s official announcement does not include any reference to Copilot or Copilot+.
Samsung’s Changtae Kim expressed excitement about making Galaxy AI and advanced technology available for a greater number of individuals, catering to their specific productivity requirements on PCs and other Galaxy devices. In collaboration with trusted industry partners, we are providing an AI experience on the Galaxy Book that enables users to work, create, and connect in smarter ways by tapping into our expanding ecosystem.
Samsung asserts that the Galaxy Book5 Pro (16-inch) boasts a potential video playback time of up to 25 hours, and it can reach approximately 35% charge within just 30 minutes. However, real-world battery performance will largely depend on usage patterns. The tantalizing raw figures, nonetheless, are noteworthy. The new Galaxy Book5 Pro laptops feature a Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a resolution of 3K and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This screen is compatible with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology, which can extend battery life and ensure smooth motion on the display.
On the new Galaxy Book5 Pro laptops, Vision Booster technology is also included, which fine-tunes and optimizes the screen’s contrast and colors according to the surrounding light.
Although the new laptops from Samsung aren’t labeled as Copilot+ PCs, they have been emphasized for their powerful AI features. These laptops come equipped with AI Select, a tool that provides additional information about anything displayed on your screen, and Photo Remaster, an AI-driven function designed to enhance and clean up images.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Samsung and Microsoft have been collaborating for quite some time, and this partnership is evident once again in their latest lineup of laptops. These new devices are equipped with Microsoft Phone Link, enabling seamless phone-PC integration, near device sharing, storage synchronization, and quick file transfer. Furthermore, they are compatible with multi control and second screen functionality. The latter feature allows you to leverage your Galaxy Tab as a secondary display for your PC, enhancing your multitasking capabilities.
