Looking forward, we’re almost at the edge of the arrival of the second series of Severance, with viewers eagerly anticipating another immersion into the peculiar universe of Lumon Industries – a world skillfully constructed by its creator Dan Erickson and principal director Ben Stiller.
Initially, this world was intended to be even more fantastical, as Erickson unveiled a scene from the initial pilot script that Stiller had reservations about, resulting in significant adjustments to what audiences ultimately witnessed on-screen.
In the most recent edition of TopMob magazine, Erickson expressed that the initial pilot was downright eccentric, boasting an enhanced sense of reality akin to Terry Gilliam’s Brazil or even Monty Python. At one instance, a pair of legs without a body could be seen scampering in the background.
Ben questioned me about the reason behind something, and I was completely clueless! He motivated me to refine the peculiarities, so that everything is anchored in a rationality, even if it’s not the same rationality as our own.
Without a doubt, viewers can’t wait with bated breath to discover how the plot unfolds in season 2, and if any lingering enigmas will be unraveled.
