In just 65.5 million units shipped so far, the PS5 has already become one of the most successful video game consoles ever made. However, it’s important to remember that even with its current success, Sony has faced failures – both accidental and intentional – throughout its history. Let’s take a look back at some of PlayStation’s biggest blunders, many of which occurred in 2024.
Mandatory PSN Linking for Helldivers 2 on PC
Initially, when the game “Helldivers 2” gained popularity, there was a minor detail about how players on PC needed to connect their PSN accounts with Steam. However, this move led to significant criticism, causing the Steam rating for the cooperative shooter to drop into “Mostly Negative”. Consequently, Sony reversed its decision, although it had already stopped selling “Helldivers 2” on PC in numerous regions worldwide. One would assume that Sony had learned from this incident and wouldn’t repeat the same mistake, correct?
