Top 7 Games We Want to See on the Nintendo Switch 2

Over the years, Nintendo has rolled out a vast array of remarkable games across its various platforms. Some of these classics have been adapted for newer consoles, but there are a few gems still trapped in the past, unplayable on the Nintendo Switch. With whispers and hints about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, this presents an ideal opportunity for Nintendo to re-release these games. Here’s a list of some exceptional Nintendo games that have been overlooked and would fit perfectly on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Metroid Prime 2 + 3

Following the triumphs of “Metroid Dread” and “Metroid Prime Remastered”, the series is thriving and seems ideally suited for the potential Nintendo Switch 2. Although a comprehensive remaster of “Metroid Prime 2” and “Metroid Prime 3” may be unlikely, simply transferring these games could be a significant move and an excellent way to generate excitement for “Metroid Prime 4”. Since “Metroid Prime 4” is scheduled for release in 2025 at the earliest, with delays possible, releasing a port of “Metroid Prime 1 + 2” in early 2025 would provide fans ample time to savor these titles before Samus embarks on her next journey.

Donkey Kong 64

As a passionate gamer, I’ve had an absolute blast with Donkey Kong on Nintendo Switch! The addition of titles like the HD remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns and the port of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been fantastic. Yet, there’s one game that still feels missing from the mix – Donkey Kong 64. Although Rare developed this classic collectathon back in 1999, Nintendo was the publisher. It’s a pity that this gem hasn’t made its way to the Switch yet. Even Banjo Kazooie, another amazing collectathon by Rare, has been released, which only amplifies my longing for the DK Crew. Some of us are holding onto hope that a secret HD remake is in development and that’s why it hasn’t been ported to Switch, but most of us just yearn to replay this game, whether in its original or HD format. Frankly, Donkey Kong 64 seems like the ideal fit for the upcoming Switch 2!

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Originally launched on both Wii and Gamecube, “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” later got an HD upgrade for the Wii U, but it’s yet to appear on the Nintendo Switch. Given that an HD version is already available, transferring it to the Switch seems like a logical step. Nintendo hasn’t given many details about the next “Legend of Zelda” game, but we know one is in development. However, it’s probably still a ways off and won’t be released soon, so porting “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” could provide fans with something to enjoy until then.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

In a parallel situation, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess bear a resemblance. Both were initially launched on Gamecube, later upgraded to Wii U, yet they are missing from the Nintendo Switch library. Just as fans eagerly anticipate a Zelda game to bridge the gap until the next main series installment, a port of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess would be ideal. Similarly, a port of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker would be equally enticing. Its distinctive aesthetic would set it apart from the art styles of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on Nintendo Switch.

F-Zero GX

The F-Zero series, once seemingly abandoned by Nintendo, has proven it’s not entirely forgotten with the release of F-Zero 99. With F-Zero 99 and contemporary racing games like Fast RMX and Redout 2, there is a clear demand for high-speed racing. Although requesting a brand new F-Zero game might be pushing it, transferring F-Zero GX to the hypothetical Nintendo Switch 2 could help maintain the series and attract new fans. Translating the game would certainly boost its popularity, but an HD remake would be even more effective.

Diddy Kong Racing

Asking for a port of Diddy Kong Racing might be one of the toughest tasks, given the licensing complications between Nintendo and Rare (now owned by Microsoft). Yet, fans have longed to revisit this game for over two decades. Although the Mario Kart series is enjoyable for Nintendo, Diddy Kong Racing occupies a special place in fans’ affections and boasts charming characters that are unlikely to appear in a Mario Kart installment.

Yoshi’s Woolly World

Yoshi has often been Mario’s most dedicated ally, even going so far as to put himself on the line for Mario to finish a level successfully. For his valiant efforts, Yoshi has received his own series of games, with “Yoshi’s Woolly World” being one of the finest examples. This game, with its yarn-inspired design, offers an enchanting and fun experience. While “Yoshi’s Crafted World” was a great sequel, it didn’t quite reach the heights of the Wii U and 3DS games. Bringing the magic of “Yoshi’s Woolly World” to the Nintendo Switch 2 would be an ideal, snuggly addition at its launch.

Although Nintendo offers a wide variety of games, many can currently be played on the Switch. However, the games listed previously haven’t appeared on the Switch yet – they were playable on other Nintendo systems before. Maybe the arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2 will change that!
