Succession creator’s next project revealed as he re-teams with series exec

Jesse Armstrong continues to enrich the world of television with his work, from Peep Show, Fresh Meat, to recent hits like Succession. Now, he’s making a return!

Following the conclusion of Succession in 2023, many fans have eagerly awaited updates about Armstrong’s future endeavors. As per recent reports from Deadline, it appears that a movie project may be in development for him.

According to reports, Armstrong is working on an unnamed film for HBO Films. He will also act as an executive producer for this project, collaborating once again with Frank Rich, a partner from their time together on ‘Succession’.

The movie’s specifics aren’t fully disclosed yet, but it appears to center on a group of four companions who reunite amidst the chaos of a prolonged global economic crisis.

The cast’s schedules are being verified as we speak, with hopes to begin filming towards the end of this year.

It’s been widely discussed that a spin-off for the hit series Succession might be on the horizon, given its impressive track record, which includes 75 Emmy nominations and 19 victories.

On the other hand, Armstrong had dismissed the idea of a possible spin-off earlier. During an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today program, he expressed that it doesn’t seem intriguing or appealing for him to pursue this path.

He added that he had “written them [the characters] enough now”.

Although Steven Moffat is primarily recognized for his work on television, he has also written several films, such as “In the Loop,” “Four Lions” and “Downhill.” Notably, the latter featured acting performances by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell.
