Lumon Corporation’s staff are embarking on a journey outside their usual environment. It’s been quite some time since Apple TV+’s acclaimed thriller, Severance, returned to prominence following the conclusion of its first season three years ago. With the second season receiving rave reviews, enthusiasts can’t wait to delve deeper into the psyches of their beloved characters, both inner and outer ones. In anticipation of the much-awaited second season premiere, Apple’s marketing department has devised an unconventional yet engaging strategy to generate buzz about Severance season two among the public.
In a viral post from series director Ben Stiller, passersby at Grand Central Station caught a peek into an innie’s world, as a surprise event unfolded amidst the bustling heart of New York City. The video captures Lumon employees carrying out their duties while seemingly oblivious to the hustle and bustle outside. Initially, the pop-up was staffed by unidentified actors, but later on, series stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman joined in, performing their roles within a compact, public workspace. Meanwhile, the cast members remained silent and fully engaged with their assigned tasks, while Stiller and others around them continued chatting.
Severance Cast Promotes Season Two in Grand Central Station
The series titled “Severance” focuses on Mark Scout (Adam Scott), a worker at Lumon Industries who opts for a program called “severance,” where his personal and work memories are separated, making them unaware of each other. Among his colleagues undergoing the same treatment at Lumon, we find Helly (Lower) and Dylan (Cherry), as depicted in the video. The fact that John Turturro’s character, Irving, is missing from this season has raised some eyebrows among fans, given the unresolved question of his return to Lumon following the events of season one. However, the presence of Mr. Milchick as team supervisor hints that the ending of season one may not have unfolded as viewers might have anticipated.
Fans have eagerly anticipated the resumption of “Severance” on Apple TV+ for quite some time now, considering that the first season concluded in a suspenseful manner all the way back in 2022. In the upcoming second season, we’ll see the reappearance of characters like Ms. Casey (played by Dichen Lachman), Ricken Hale (Michael Chernus), Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette), Burt Goodman (Christopher Walken), and Devon Scout-Hale (Jen Tullock). New faces joining the “Severance” cast include Alia Shawkat, known for her role in “Arrested Development,” Bob Balaban from “Best in Show,” Merritt Wever of “Nurse Jackie,” Ólafur Darri Ólafsson from “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” Gwendoline Christie, famous for her role in “Game of Thrones,” and John Noble, recognized for his work in “The Lord of the Rings.”
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but wonder about the upcoming episodes of Severance. It seems likely that the shocking revelations from last season will play a significant role and take center stage. According to Apple TV+’s official description, “In season two, Mark and his companions discover the severe repercussions of meddling with the severance barrier, which propels them deeper into distress.
Severance season two premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 17.
