Developer Slipgate Ironworks, in partnership with publisher 3D Realms, have made it known that their upcoming real-time strategy title, “Tempest Rising“, is now up for pre-purchase via Steam on PC. To add to the excitement, they’ve also unveiled a demo of the game for potential players to try before buying. Additionally, there’s a teaser trailer available for pre-orders, which you can watch below.
The trial version of “Tempest Rising” is accessible until February 3 on Steam during the ongoing Real-Time Strategy Festival. This demo showcases various game modes, such as multiplayer with three distinct maps: The Alps (for 2 players), Oasis (for 1 player versus 1), and Altitude (also for 1 player versus 1). While those who prefer single-player campaigns will have to be patient, they can still experience the gameplay by engaging in skirmishes against AI opponents on these maps.
In a parallel universe set in the year 1997, the narrative unfolds following a catastrophic escalation of the Cuban Missile Crisis into nuclear warfare. The game, upon release, promises an immersive single-player journey, offering distinct factions to engage with, enabling players to delve into the storyline.
In terms of gameplay, Tempest Rising is drawing inspiration from old-school Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games, emphasizing swift and smooth base construction alongside ample customization options and numerous battles to engage in. The multiplayer aspect will offer two distinct factions, each boasting unique strengths and vulnerabilities, along with entirely separate rosters.
