The main developers at Square Enix have shared that they’ve finished crafting the narrative for the concluding chapter of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and production of this game is proceeding according to plan. In a conversation with Famitsu (through Eurogamer), director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that development is progressing smoothly and everything is moving forward as anticipated, without experiencing any delays.
According to producer Yoshinori Kitase, Tetsuya Nomura was assigned to wrap up the remake project as a sort of task, with the aim of staying true to the original while delivering a level of satisfaction not experienced in the initial version. Kitase then added that this work was finally completed towards the end of the year, and the script for the third installment was also finalized at that time.
Kitase expresses his contentment, stating that he is “extremely pleased” with the narrative for the concluding segment, and he has confidence that fans will also find satisfaction in the closing installment.
Previously, Square Enix expressed their intention to maintain a similar development pace for the final installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake. If they are able to keep this schedule, as suggested by Hamaguchi’s comments, then the third game might be released in 2027 or 2028. Today, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth became available exclusively on PlayStation 5, with a PC version also planned.
