The children of Natalie “Nadya” Suleman, also known as “Octomom,” are breaking their silence.
The eight youngest children, aged 16 soon, of a woman who is 49 years old, are starting to reveal details about their mother and family experiences. This comes just before their birthday on January 26th, and weeks prior to the premiere of Lifetime’s “I Was Octomom” movie on March 8th, as well as the release of the docuseries titled “Confessions of Octomom” on March 10th.
Nariyah Suleman, aged 15, shared with People magazine in a January 25th interview that her mother made significant sacrifices, giving up her own life, relationships, personal wellbeing, and dignity, all for the sake of looking after us.
As I sat beside my mother, I shared, “Given any chance, I’d absolutely support her in telling the truth, seeing how she‘s always been there for us throughout the years.
Natasha, who prefers to be called by her given name instead of her nickname Nadya to distance herself from past hardships, gained tabloid fame in 2009 following the birth of her daughter Nariyah and octuplets Noah, Josiah, Maliyah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Makai. These children were conceived using In-Vitro Fertilization.
Natalie is also the mother of Elijah (age 23), Amerah (age 22), Aidan (age 19), Calyssa and Caleb (both 18 years old), as well as Joshua (age 21), who himself is a father.
After giving birth to her octuplets, Natalie encountered both personal and monetary hardships. In 2012, she participated in an adult film production and declared bankruptcy, attracting sensational media coverage. Unfortunately, even her children found themselves under the spotlight of public criticism.
Nariyah expressed her frustration, saying, “It’s incredibly unjust that she was subjected to fear and loathing merely for being a mother.” She explained, “There are children who criticize and pose intrusive questions about our mom, even sharing inappropriate images with us.
Their family, she added, would “just ignore” the negative commentary.

Nariyah mentioned that these days, she and her eight siblings who live with her are flourishing at home. They attend school online, and the bond between them has never been stronger. Additionally, she offered unique insights into how their mother manages to raise them all.
The teenager remarked, “I have a great deal of admiration for her because she is incredibly disciplined and structured.
For Natalie, it’s the product of learning from past mistakes.
She admitted that she struggled to instill structure and discipline in her eldest six children while parenting them due to focusing more on unconditional love and nurturing rather than applying the lessons she learned from college and graduate school about structure and consequences. However, with her younger kids, she found a balance between providing love, maintaining positive regard, and enforcing structure and discipline. She emphasized that this approach is essential for effective parenting.
Nariyah mentioned that these days, she and her eight siblings are flourishing in the comfort of their own home, receiving education remotely. Despite being apart from traditional school settings, they have grown even closer as a family. Additionally, she gave a unique perspective on the way their mother manages parenting.
The teenager commented, “I admire her greatly because she is extremely organized and focused, which are qualities I truly appreciate.” She is among the most disciplined individuals I have met and contributes significantly to our education.

She admitted that she struggled to instill structure and discipline in her oldest six children, saying, “I focused too much on nurturing and didn’t fully apply what I learned in college and graduate school. I paid a heavy price for my mistakes. Now, with my younger kids, I’ve managed to balance love, respect, and structured discipline – consequences are included. That approach is crucial.

Reminiscing about the time when her octuplets were just newborns, and her six older children could manage to stay put for around eight seconds at a stretch.

Getting eight children to line up and smile for a pic sounds like a Christmas miracle to us.
The Sulemans are a cat family, so Maliyah took the opportunity to do some dog-sitting.
On the occasion of his 21st birthday in 2022, Nadya shared an uncommon, fresh photo of her oldest son, Elijah, on her social media platform as a tribute.
Occasionally, maintaining a big family can be similar to managing a bustling zoo, as Nadya pointed out when she wished her children Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jeremiah, Jonah, Josiah and Makai a joyous 12th birthday.

Nadya’s eldest daughter Amerah got her 21st birthday picture all to herself.
In the year 2023, it was Jonah, Nariyah, Noah, and Jeremiah who oversaw the preparation of a vegan meal for the family celebration honoring Native American Heritage Day.
Mom took Amerah and Calyssa out for ramen (vegan, of course) in August 2023.
The family loves their fur babies too.
Eight was enough for this family photo in March 2022.
In a photo their mother posted, Joshua, with his short-lived facial tattoo, and older brother Eli prepared for takeoff, as shown by the nostalgic snapshot.
Maliyah and Nariyah were a coordinated sister act.
Noah and Jonah got ready to dig in.
On Mother’s Day, Nadya was not alone; she celebrated with her octuplets and elder sister Amerah in the year 2022.
In lieu of 48 candles, the kids brought balloons for their mom’s birthday.
The Suleman octuplets enjoyed baked goods on their 14th birthday.
While her kids smiled for the camera, Mom snuck in a wish on her 49th birthday in 2024.
