Fans of “Squid Game” are eagerly anticipating the third and last season, set to air on Netflix later this year. However, you might not know that alongside the premiere of Season 2, Netflix covertly launched a unique spinoff. The second season of “Squid Game” has been another major triumph for Netflix, following closely in the footsteps of the unprecedented success of the initial season. Now we can only wait and see how it all concludes.
The popular series, Squid Game, is set to conclude with its third and final season this year, yet given its massive success on Netflix, it’s plausible that additional projects inspired by the show could spring up to broaden the franchise. In fact, a real-life reality game show titled Squid Game: The Challenge was released midway between seasons one and two, and an unexpected addition to the platform was a Squid Game themed fireplace, dubbed Squid Game: Fireplace. You can discover it on Netflix here.
What Is Squid Game: Fireplace?
In December, when Squid Game Season 2 was released, a hidden gem called Fireplace: Squid Game Edition also made its debut. Amidst the multitude of other fireplaces Netflix provided for the season and the excitement surrounding the new episodes, it’s possible this one slipped past you. The ambiance of this hour-long stream is designed to mimic The Front Man’s office, but there are no Easter eggs or special features to distinguish it. It’s simply a relaxing fireplace video meant to set a mood.
Regarding Squid Game Season 2, the series proved just as popular and, in some aspects, even more successful than its predecessor. However, it leaves viewers hanging with a massive cliffhanger, as Seung Gi-Hun’s predicament becomes increasingly dire leading up to the final season. After suffering significant losses throughout his second experience in the Squid Game, fans are eager to discover how things will ultimately play out for him.
Will There Be Any Squid Game Spinoffs?
The popular show Squid Game may be nearing its conclusion with Season 3 slated for release later in 2022, however, it seems that the Netflix franchise is far from over. In addition to a second season of Squid Game: The Challenge being developed, an English language adaptation of the series is also underway. Renowned director David Fincher is currently working on this English version for Netflix, though a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.
Although Gi-Hun’s story may mark the conclusion of the main saga, there’s a strong possibility that other tales could emerge within this format in the days ahead. As of now, specific spinoffs haven’t been revealed, but after the series finale, we might witness significant progress across the board for this highly successful Netflix franchise. With numerous possibilities on the horizon, it wouldn’t be surprising if some new installments were unveiled quietly, just like Squid Game was.
