At long last, fresh audio book adaptations of Ian Fleming’s renowned James Bond tales will arrive in the UK, featuring Richard Armitage and Adjoa Andoh as some of the well-known personalities lending their voices to these captivating stories.
In a significant partnership, Ian Fleming Publications teamed up with HarperCollinsUS to breathe life into an ambitious project. This venture resulted in 14 James Bond novels receiving fresh audio adaptations, as well as two additional non-fiction works by the author: “Thrilling Cities” and “The Diamond Smugglers.
In the past, James Bond audiobooks have consistently brought in well-known actors, and this trend continues with the current cast. Richard Armitage, known for “Missing You,” is narrating Casino Royale, while Adjoa Andoh from “Bridgerton” provides the voice for Live and Let Die.
In the meantime, Alex Kingston, known for her role in Doctor Who, narrates Moonraker, while Mark Gatiss, a co-creator of Sherlock, takes on From Russia with Love. Adam Godley from The Great lends his voice to Goldfinger, and Genevieve Gaunt from The Royals performs The Spy Who Loved Me.
Fans who follow Ghosts will undoubtedly identify the voice of co-creator and actor Ben Willbond in both Octopussy and The Living Daylights, which were released together. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, known for his role in His Dark Materials, provides narration for The Man with the Golden Gun.
Actress Eleanor Matsuura, who played a role in “The Day of the Jackal,” is taking on another iconic spy tale by recording “You Only Live Twice.” This announcement adds to the confirmed cast for the UK release, which will be available starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 29th January 2025, through Ian Fleming Publications and various audiobook platforms.
Although the original books still provide countless enjoyable hours for Bond aficionados, there is some uncertainty about the future of the film series, as fans eagerly wait for news regarding who will take over from Daniel Craig.
In the previous year, whispers about Aaron Taylor-Johnson (famous for films like Bullet Train, Kraven the Hunter, and the upcoming 28 Years Later) gained momentum, but more recent news on this topic seems to have subsided.
