Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered Release Date Announced With New Features

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about Aspyr’s release of the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, which has only been out for a bit over a year now. This means Lara Croft’s initial escapades are now available on almost any gaming console or PC! But that’s not all, they’ve given these PS1 classics a fresh coat of paint by enhancing resolution visuals and revamping control schemes to bring them up-to-date.

Now, the Austin-based studio is taking us further down the path with Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered. This latest release gives players a chance to explore the entirety of Lara’s PS1 catalog, including the first PS2 entry, making it an unmissable opportunity for fans like me to delve deeper into this iconic franchise!

On a PlayStation Blog post, Aspyr has declared that the remastered version of Tomb Raider 4, 5, and 6 will be available on February 14, 2025. This exciting collection is not limited to PlayStation; it will also be released for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. The package includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Interested players can now pre-order the game at their preferred platforms for $26.99, a 10% discount from its original price of $29.99.

According to Aspyr’s associate brand manager, Matthew Ray, “Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered,” carrying a deep heritage that extends over several decades, is not just about gathering games—it’s an enticing call for players to reexperience the enchantment of Lara Croft’s pivotal journeys and introduce them to a fresh wave of gamers.

Going beyond its standard offerings, the mentioned PS Blog post presents the Flyby Camera Creator. This innovative addition empowers gamers to design their own dramatic shots across all three games. As demonstrated in the video below, users can plot a course for the camera’s movement and fine-tune Lara Croft’s appearance and placement.

A notable enhancement that brings these games, which are over two decades old, into the present day is remarkably straightforward and leaves one questioning why it wasn’t implemented initially. One of these improvements is an ammunition tracker, providing players with a clear view of their remaining bullets, thereby facilitating resource management. Another feature, equally surprising in its simplicity yet effectiveness, is the option to bypass cutscenes. Given that some players may have played games like ‘Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness’ numerous times before, the ability to jump over the dialogue and swiftly return to gameplay will undoubtedly be appreciated by those who have amassed extensive experience with these titles.

In the remastered versions of Tomb Raider 4-6, several fresh animations have been incorporated for both Modern and Tank control options. One of these previously unused animations from the original games, now reinstated for the remasters, is the “Slide To Run” animation, enabling Lara Croft to keep running after reaching the end of a slope by pressing forward. New animations for approaching and holding onto ledges in front of and behind Lara have also been included. Exclusively available with the Modern control scheme is a new animation that lets players turn Lara around on the spot by pressing the Roll button while she’s stationary.

To conclude, but far from being insignificant, the beloved cheat codes are coming back in Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered. Players can type in any and all cheat codes as they were in the original versions. For those who might have forgotten how to activate these cheats, Aspyr will provide a comprehensive list closer to release date.
